These were re-issued -- kinda -- when the XIII retro's dropped except they made all the accents lime green -- including the Jumpman, if I'm not mistaken. They had some silly name -- or people gave them a silly name, but they can't touch the OG's with the gold ring.
And Mike wore the XIVs in the Finals because even then he knew he might not return for the 98/99 season -- so Phil, Tinker and 'em thought it'd be best if the kids could at least see MJ rocking the XIV's before he left the game (for a minute, anyway)...

He wore the Black/Red XIVs in other games too.
Wearing next year's shoes during the final (or at least Playoffs) was Mike's tradition.
The reason is because he was excited to wear the final product of the new shoes, he just can't wait.
He wore XIIIs during the XIIs year.
So, your last point is... NOT TRUE.

NOT NOT. The only time Jordan debuted next year's model during the playoffs was with the XIs in 95 and the XIVs in 98, as Rick explained. He usually did have next years model by the playoffs, and would rock them only in practice to test them out while there was still time for them to be tweaked. He did have XIIIs during the 97 playoffs, but they were never worn in a game. The shoe was supposed to be kept under wraps until the fall debut.
Also, as some have stated, Mike had a theme going with the XIIs and XIIIs. Both years (96-97, 97-9 he followed the same pattern:
Reg Season-
HOME - Wht/Blk (white socks/black armband)
AWAY - Wht/Red (white socks/red armband)
All Star-
Blk/Wht (white socks/black armband)
Playoffs
HOME - Blk/Wht (black socks/black armband)
AWAY - Blk/Red [black socks/red armband (black armband a couple of times in 9]
He would switch the themes for 1 road and 1 home game each regular season. Also, he did wear a couple variations of low top XIIIs in 98 for a half here or there. Low top blk/wht and blk/blk.
I watched every Bulls game for several years and I know very well what I am talking about. There is so much misinformation on here sometimes I wonder how some of you can call yourselves Jordan fans.
Amen to that...love the XIII's, broke out the altitudes yesterday just because i realized how much i missed all the XIII cw'sOriginally Posted by indohan
I'll try to make this as short and simple as I can.
Mike wore few different color and style of shoes during the Playoffs.
So, calling them "Playoffs" really doesn't make sense.
Why? Because he wore Black/Red too, and people call them "bred".
This applies to XIIs too. Mike wore Black/White XIIs and Black/Red XIIs during the Playoffs.
Instead of confusing yourselves and others, why don't you just simply call them by their color?
Funny why people don't call the Black/Cement IIIs "All-Star IIIs".
This inconsistency proves that those nicknames are stupid. However, people still insist to call the shoes with those stupid nicknames.
I hope you get my point. I don't think it's hard to understand. I'm pretty sure what I said above does make sense.
I don't have the proof for the XIIIs, but the infamous loss against the Magic was the beginning.Originally Posted by Rick Kang
I didn't say the XIII were only worn during the All-Star Game -- many previous posts have stated that Mike wore them in the playoffs. My sentiment is they were debuted during the ASG.
The info I gave about MJ wearing the XVIs in the '98 Finals is paraphrased from an old SLAM Magazine interview with Mike and Tinker. So whut's not true about it?
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong -- but where's the proof? I don't recall Mike wearing the XIIIs during the 96/97 season -- pix? It's true he did wear the XI's during the '95 playoffs, but I don't recall any other instance of this occuring.

1998 was a phenomenal season for Michael Jordan, starting with the NBA All Star game and Playoffs. During this period Jordan wore and loved the Air Jordan Original 13 (XIII) Black / True Red - White aka Playoff.
Although the Air Jordan 13 (XIII) Original Playoff Black / True Red - White was known for Michael Jordan dominating the Playoffs, MJ actually wore this pair during the 1998 All Star games. Releasing to the public in19971998, with a retail price of $150.
