Question on video capture cards.......

I obviously don't know ANYTHING about video capture cards, but I see that some of yall post clips from Modern Warfare on youtube. I want to know what is a good HD Video Capture card to record video games/tv shows/spots, etc on my tv. What, besides the capture card, do I need? Cables? Hard drives? Every little bit helps, thank in advance.
