r cigarettes dead?

I mean I see people smoking all the time, especially here in the Casinos....

But I get what OP is saying.... I don't "notice" it anymore like I used too.

It does seem that smoking went down... and supposedly it did.

It definitely has gone down. Just google "cigarette consumption in the US."

But to not have seen anyone smoking in years is "I live at 10 Cloverfield Lane" type ish.

It was probably a few days and op exaggerated it to years. It is weird to see how the attitude towarding smoking has drastically changed. Restaurants used to have smoking and non-smoking sections. Cars used to have lighters and ash-trays. There used to be hundreds of cigarette butts on the ground outside of buildings.

Yeah this is all true, and I was flying with this lady one time and she was a flight attendant back in like the 60's or 70's and she told me back in the day people used to be allowed to smoke on planes. I don't know how true that is, but I do know that pilots used to smoke, drink, do lines, and F the hostesses on airplanes back in the day.

I was overnight at a hotel and went downstairs to the lobby to grab a bite to eat and I sat at the bar and I started talking to this pilot and he told me stories of his dad back in the days :smh: wild stories and I didn't believe him, but dude was getting hammered because it was a snow storm and we were going to be stuck at this hotel for like 2 nights maybe. He pulled out his phone and took pictures of pictures and showed me his dad back in the days yo and they were smoking and drinking and his dad had a hostess sitting on his lap in his tity whiteys and the hostess hat her shirt opened with her bra on and other pics fools are smoking cigarettes and drinking like I guess the liquor from the plane or wine don't remember. All the hostesses were married to :smh: and the pilots met and were cool with some of their husbands.

Ha. Pilots were living the life back then. Probably still are with all the flight attendants they meet.

People smoked in airplanes up until the early 90's and in offices, public places until mid nineties.. Funny cause this lady at work (65 years old) was telling me how she use to smoke at her desk in the mid-nineties.

I see tons of people smoking.

I'm not a smoker but when i drink ..

Ya i started smoking at like 15 and smoked for like 10 years. It actually wasn't that hard for me to quit but then again i wasn't a heavy smoker. Now when i go out drinking with buddies i buy a pack, smoke like 10 and leave the rest wherever we are. I don't think about smoking otherwise.

Good luck with the quitting though man.

Stopping is no problem..work has been getting to me lately tho

I would like to see the numbers on it but with the amount of healthy living mindset shifts in society over the last 10 years, you would THINK smoking would decrease.

Not sure

From 2017 Washington post article

The national smoking rate has fallen to historic lows, with just 15 percent of adults still smoking. But the socioeconomic gap has never been bigger.

[Health leaders call for immediate action to curb smoking in the U.S.]

Among the nation’s less-educated people — those with a high-school-equivalency diploma — the smoking rate remains more than 40 percent, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Today, rural residents are diagnosed with lung cancer at rates 18 to 20 percent above those of city dwellers. By nearly every statistical measure, researchers say, America’s lower class now smokes more and dies more from cigarettes than other Americans.

Im in mexico city everyone smokes ciggs. In nyc everyone smokes ciggs as well. It's a fashion statement to some people, believe it or not.

I'm in building maintenance...everyday, 5 days a week I have to sweep up cigarette butts around my buildings grounds. If I could get just a penny for every butt I've swept up since I joined the company I'd be a multi-millionaire. I WISH people stopped smoking this s**t lol
