This wouldn't be the first time Batman has been "killed". They had the Knightfall series in the 90's when Bane breaks Batman's back, andAzreal is introduced as the new Batman.

RIP storyline is OLD OLD OLD news.. the Hardcover Collected Volume came out a WHILE ago.
Battle for the Cowl is relatively new and it deals with what happened in Final Crisis and R.I.P.
Next for the Batman universe is "Batman and Robin" by Grant Morrison again... its gonna be the same team from All Star Superman...
