Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Posting this here too. Felt a way about this since I don’t listen to R&B much at all.

Feel like this has been the sentiment for a long time. A lot of new age singers don’t have the juice like that. Their voices aren’t strong at all and that carries over into their performances. Ashanti and Ciara are Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin compared to some of these newer acts.

Another somewhat related thing is people like Morray and Rod Wave need to shift into actual R&B and get out of that overcrowded whiny pain harmonizing lane. We need husky singer back, it’s been a long time since Gerald LeVert and Ruben Studdard were here.

Besides the number one reason, a lot of them can't sing and are dependent on technology

They miss out on the fundamentals of singing

Labels aren't investing in you with singing coaches, help with performances....

Look at these 50+ year old singers and their performances and compare it to newer acts.

Why would they when they can get their return on investment back with half the work and money by pushing another bad b aesthetic rapper?

Labels don't care about quality music fr just making $$$

Also, when I listen to a lot these newer RnB acts, I hear cats trying to go above and beyond with the toxicity schtick. Practically trying to make a harmonized Future song… while Future already does that.
Going all in on Brent Faiyaz huh? Vory too for what it's worth.

U not wrong tho.

I be surprised chicks as into Brent as they are.
