Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I think Joe would have gone down as a legend, because he would have killed himself.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
And you ain’t lying.

Joe's career trajectory was taliored made to follow Fabolous.

problem is Def Jam over spent on his debut and even though he got a plaque, i doubt they recouped that budget.

Overspent where? Could have sworn joe’s biggest complaint was that they didn’t spend any money outside of the just blaze beats. His high school friend produced the majority of the album

Nah Joe was mad because of the strategy, he wanted to drop that 112 track as his next single but Def Jam said no because he was already on a another 112 song so he put out, Fire. Fire wasn’t even supposed to be on the album he made that as a promo single

Basically Fire didn’t catch on radio wise and 112 ended up taking him off their single

For people that don;'t want to sit through the video above. It's a recap of the what went wrong at Summer Jam
- Ebro said he was thinking about bringing 69 out to perform with Casanova because people where vouching for him, but 69 he decided against it because 69 kept talking ish. Also clowns 69 for trying to cover up his tattoos n stuff so he could sneak in.
- He brings up the person that did the RIP Pimp C tweet and also has him in the video to explain everything else that went wrong for the guy during the weekend
- talks about how another employee for Hot97, that's been working there for 10+ years, stole over 300 tickets and tried to pocket that money by selling the tickets outside the event.

Wayne >>> BG & Juvie.

True STARBOY

Best verse on these joints too:

BG a cult hero. Dope as hell...but he never reached where Wayne did on Carter 1 & Carter 2. As a fully rounded rapper/lyricist Same with Juvie.

Juvie,Turk and BG will tell you themselves that Wayne is a prodigy and they knew he was on their heels. Juvie said it on the Combat Jack episode (one of the best Combat episodes btw).

If anybody cares this is the XXL article I was referencing from late 03 where Joe talked about his album flopping lol

My dude couldn’t fathom how Chingy doubled his album in sales

I think he was on to something wondering if it was an East Coast thing tho. I don’t think many people outside the tri state really connected with his singles or brand like that

^ That was a dope read. Crazy how so many things fell apart for him in 2003. Roc the Mic tour, J Lo song and the second single ****.

I like him saying he did more than Juelz and should do more than Chingy.

Anyone got the full video of Timbaland and Swizz last night?

I can’t take the word seriously of a man who said he physically threw out the Carter 2 cd out his car window after hearing “The Mobb” :lol

I remember Obie doing crazy numbers and going platinum fast and I couldn't understand why. None of his singles were big and he had Got Some Teeth on MTV and BET and that song and video were corny as ****.

That album was fire, my boy begged me to listen to it and I did months later. Bought that **** the next day, great album.

It was like song four or five, then I tossed it

Yall taking me back to 2000.

My AOL sn was LiL WeezY 45, made it I think around when Project Chick was out.

Skeezers LOVED that ****, I was 11 years old and had grown women blowing me up just off the sn alone.

Shout out Wayne

Hopefully those weren’t grown men looking for you

Budden was up there comparing himself to flash in the pan acts that were tied to the biggest artist with biggest platforms in the industry

Obie Trice - Eminem
Murphy Lee - Nelly
Chingy - Ludacris
Da Band - Diddy & MTV

Of course they were going to outsell him :lol.

I always thought Murphy Lee was the best rapper out of the St. Lunatics. I loved this song and always thought Murphy Lee got off

Chingy hits man. Couldn’t go around and not hear Right Thurrrrr with that stupid *** dance
