Belly got panned so nobody was giving him money to make more **** like that
He had a production/studio deal but none of his other stuff made it out of development. Hype actually not generic enough tho, he into more artsy/avant garde visual stuff and didn't seem to be really into developing traditional story/dialogue like that.In the film they was in the crib watching Gummo by Harmony Korine (he made Spring Breakers which in turn has Belly inspiration lol) he's the same way he just came up in white art circles so they viewing it as like some art house ****. Belly just looked like a bad hood movie to the critics.

Dude really was an auteur and had a unique cinematic voice. Dude coulda brought so many different perspectives to so many different topics.
Visually I feel like he coulda been with the Spikes and Wes Anderson’s if he kept that style over a 20 something year career. It’s so unique.

But yeah, he either ain't have a real passion for filmmaking or never had the backing the way he's never followed up. Especially since the music video has stopped mattering for a decade now.
I mean dude got time for a 20 year Belly anniversary discussion, reminiscing about behind the scenes **** and what coulda been but ain't do nothing else film wise since.
