Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

HIT THE BASEMENT, GO THROUGH THE REPLACEMENT DOOR
COME UP IN MY NEIGHBORS YARD WITH A TASTE FOR WAR

First classic I’ve ever heard. Had a convo today and we were saying it’s unfortunate real rappers deal with real consequences. Delved into how future has been a liar pretty much his whole career and those who really live that life usually have problems with life :ohwell:

Rap and Hip-Hop culture's obsession, or infatuation w/guys living their raps is pretty strange, considering what the content has been for the majority of it's existence. Never made sense to me.

I get it from where Hip-Hop started at from a content standpoint, but hiphop isn't close to that now, and hasn't been for decades.

J. Cole pretty much summed it up in false prophets. Psychologically speaking I’d attribute it to looking for inspiration for someone living their best life because most aren’t.

I haven’t seen Any of the interviews. Just took into consideration what he was lying about in regards to his lean addiction and looking at the fact he was connected to Dungeon family and what are the chances he was really struggling/trapping/rapping about such things when likely he didn’t have to. I won’t deny his hits but personally it’s just drives the point home further to separate the artist and the art.

Regardless of the Dungeon Fam connections, Future was really in the streets at some level ...OutKast n em wasn’t handing out bags to everybody like that back then

The drugs thing, it sucks for kids to hear it but any reasonable adult could see it wasn’t really like that 10 secs listening to a song
