Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Interesting. Banks technically better than everyone. Diplomatic immunity was better than the official g unit albums

This. T.O.S. was flat out trash, and the nostalgia of Beg For Mercy is better than the actual music. Now mixtapes, that’s probably a different story.

Dang. I never thought about where I stack Diplomatic Immunity against Beg for Mercy.

I might give DI the slight edge. BFM doesn’t have a My Love, Built This City, or I Really Mean It... but G’d Up, Gangsta ****, Poppin Them Thangs still go.

Damn... that’s a tough one for me.

The movement or the skills?

Both.

No one in the Dips rapped better than Banks. 50, Buck, and Yayo all had bars that were better than Cam, Juelz, and Jimmy.

And the impact of G Unit was felt worldwide. To this day, it’s still debateable which crew had NYC on lock, but the fact that G Unit transcends the tristate area puts the movement question to bed.

Yayo over Cam?

Nawl b...

I can understand everything else...

Now I’m wondering who was a bigger movement than them?

No Limit?

Cats. Stay. Sleeping. On. Yayo. :smh:

"You can sniff me, cut me, I'll turn you to a junkie
I'm the number one seller in the whole ******* country
Wall Street ******, they cop me on the low
White boys don't call me coke, they call me blow
It's time to go, on the bus, the train, the plane
I'll smuggle, I'm nothing but trouble
I'll make your money double, cook me in baking soda
I'll turn your Hooprock into a new Range Rover
I'll pay all your bills and fill your 'frigerator
Feed your family, turn your man to a hater
Put me in your doorpanels or your stashbox
Put me in your Nikes, Timbs or Reeboks"

"I lay my pimp game down when it comes to these *****es
They do what I say and obey all my wishes
Wash all my clothes and clean dirty dishes
I turn a sweet ***** to a switchblade sister
While you shop on Melrose, buyin **** shoes
I'm in Mickey D's buyin #2's
Now get yo' *** on the track and get the dough for me
I'm the #1 pimp, so she chosen me
And my **** where the ballers and bros be
They collect them G's and they give 'em to me
I'm pimpin, no perm, just gators
Pimpin, show you how to stunt on them haters
Pimpin, flossin in that new Cadillac
Pimpin, chinchil' with the fur hat
Pimpin, I show you how to school a ho
And when you chasin them *****es I'm chasin the dough (YEAH!)"

Had a thought while watching this Killer Mike interview and hearing him throw ‘fine as all outdoors’ in.

Does any other genre have so many lines and quotables that we inject into casual conversation so regularly?

So many lessons learned through a simple line here and there too.

Do Rock fans hold onto lyrics and use them the way Hip Hop fans do.
