Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

J dilla is ‘hypebeast’ and has ‘no classics’

You see some of the most off base takes in here sometimes lol

Those are two things you literally said

“Best producer with no classic album”

“... the cool hypebeast thing to say”

Your exact words. But I can’t comprehend.

Do you know what a classic album is? That means he produced the whole album. You know, it's what top producers do.

Do you know what a hype beast is? We're on a sneaker forum?

Did I say he wasn't a good producer?

Slap your teachers b

LMAO?!

Yea, I know what a classic is. Dilla has a couple with Donuts and The Shinning. As well as slum village’s Fan-Tas-Tic Vol 2. All albums that he solely produced.

Did I say you didn’t think dilla was a good producer? No, but you did say he didn’t have a classic album and you stated that calling him the best producer is a hypebeast thing to do. Two takes that don’t have much validity to them, imo.

Such a weird conversation, accuses me of not being able to comprehend his words, proceeds to put words in my mouth then questions those words, and then assumed I was talking about albums that Dilla didn’t fully produce...?

Weird

Did you take your medication today b? Lack of comprehension obviously isn't the only thing going on.

Illmatic, Ready To Die 36 Chambers....Donuts...ok

I'm kinda over Drake, Kendrick, and Cole being the "Big 3". Time for some new blood.
It's kinda over for them anyway when it comes to that. Drake the only consistent dominant one and its totally commercial. Kendrick is completely ghost. Cole taking advantage right now but I feel like they know its over for that big 3 talk.

I missed the Dilla talk.

The first thing I was gonna mention was Slum Village's Fantastic V2.

I get saying it became a thing to name drop him and automatically throw him @ #1 in a hypebeast hipster way especially after he died but nah he's definitely not overrated and deserves to be mentioned among the best. He actually has the resume to back it up.

That Big L comparison is wrong.

I’ve never been to a concert before but I’d definitely go to a NL Reunion tour, Hot Boys, or an Up In Smoke Tour Part 2 tour.

Blows my mind when people say they’ve never been. Why have you never been to one?

I was 9 when I went to my first concert, been going all the time since I was old enough to go on my own. Concerts are dope as ****, especially the small venue joints.

This. Best concerts are the smaller venue ones. Make sure I go at least to at least 2 or 3 a year.

Also, the narrative that people, whether it be other artists or fans weren’t rocking with Dilla until after his death is pretty false.

Dilla always remained in the ‘underground’ scene. Never wanted to have the spotlight on him, just the music. Dude was nominated for a grammy with Common, his work was appreciated by many.

Whether it was producing for Busta, ATCQ, Common, De La, The Pharcyde, Janet Jackson, The roots, Mos Def and Madlib. Dude was respected.
