Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I'm not sure about interviews & stuff, but Janet has pretty much always been political in her music whether that be in regards to being a a black woman, a black person, & a woman. In fact it probably held her back, prone to harsher criticism for being a vocal black woman, & made them want to get her out the paint the way they did. **** Justin Timberlake too, he's a two-faced coward.

This is why I respect & hold Janet Jackson in such high regard. Touching on the things that she touched on during that timeframe as a superstar was very risky. Janet Jackson always spoke up & deserves nothing but praise for doing so. She never straddled the fence & did "Black or White" thing like Michael (no disrespect intended) . Janet is/was Proud Black Woman.

Here's 2 songs for example:

Janet is black af:

Thus Jimmy and Terry

Considering who she's been married to and how she hasn't spoken, she would be killed today being black and one of the largest artist not speaking.

The music wouldn't matter.

Mike made a song about they don't care about us, while running completely away from his blackness.

Songs wouldn't be enough. They weren't enough for Kendrick or any other artist.

but he did support him by donating, he just didn't speak out publicly.

Him saying something sends a bigger message than secretly donating. Mike simply didn't wanna make white folks uncomfortable and he donated on Harvey Gnatt's next run not the one where he said "Republicans buy sneakers too".

It's good he finally gets it now. He had no reason to be scared. I say the same thing about these NFL players finally speaking up. It's 53 men on a NFL roster, mostly black. These owners are not gonna release or whiteball a big portion of their team because they spoke up about racism. It's power in numbers.

Damn, I want one for me and my wife. I want the narcissistic americans and darker people suffer shirts.

2 months before getting them? Bruh, the whole protest might be over by then

I agree 100%. I would not invest in places that were used to objectify us, and treat us like lesser human beings. Those white investors and landlords mad tons of money off section 8, housing and project buildings. I’d rather start from scratch
The being proud of where you come from was empowering for a disenfranchised group of ppl, but in the same sense lured those ppl deeper in a trap that was set up for them.
