Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

It's amazing how big of a star DMX was from 98-03 despite battling demons most of the time it seemed. Even Year of the Dog went #2, by no means a good album but it had a few songs I liked.

Really would have liked to see Fiend release an album on the label during his short stint.

I was shocked Swizz said We Are the Streets was his favorite album he did. It's definitely an underrated an album.

I want to see the money they made off the tour. 35 ish cities and all sold out. It's interesting to see how much they spent and got back. I heard him say pretty much broke even but I want the details.

I still can't believe they didn't interview Drag-On or talk about his albums.

I'm surprised they didn't talk about Time is Money cause there was so much hype for that album and all the delays or even the other Lox members solo albums.

This was a good doc but they really undermined Jada and Styles’ solo success during their run. Eve obviously had success but from 01-04 Jada and Styles had their fair share too. Definitely thought Drag-On should’ve had more than passing mentions, cause his first album was during their peak.

I wanted to hear about Drag's albums cause both were during pivotal moments. I wanted to hear about Fiend cause he was signed and there were rumors about Swizz and RR not knowing what to do with him which was always crazy to me. They signed Yung Wun during Vol 2 who was terrible. They could have talked about a lot more instead of those awful reenactments or the new RR that makes awful music.

It was cool they talked about Jin real quick. I didn't hear his album until years after it came out. It had a few joints. I thought he was gonna be a star. I thought Asians would support the hell out of that album but I don't know why they didn't. Those Freestyle Fridays bring me back, couldn't wait for that **** to air. I didn't know they tried to use the Kanye song as a second single. That wasn't a bad song.

"The second single for the album was slated to be "I Got A Love", but Roc-A-Fella Records blocked the decision, fearing too many singles would over-expose Kanye West.Kanye West included an extra verse in "I Got a Love (Remix)", which was later used in his song "I Wonder" on his album"

This a hard song.

Jin kinda got a crazy story. I remember seeing him and China Mac patch it up a couple years back. Jin was really around some Asian gangsters back around this time. I think dude got involved in some Asian politics and **** later as well.

I watched the China Mac video and Jin seemed super religious and just a family man.
China Mac was Chinese Mafia and Jin was just around dudes that were around that but wasn't really into it himself he was saying. The whole incident was because Mac heard a rumor about Jin getting at one of his boy's wife (which Jin said he wouldn't knowingly do that) and something earlier in the day had pissed him off so he went guns blazing at Jin and his boy and ended up paralyzing his friend.
