Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Scarface doesn’t get love from people 30 and under and he’s WAY bigger in the south than everywhere else. Most people throw him in their top 10 or top 20 just cause Jay said he was that nice.

Most overrated would have to be Wayne for me. I can’t say Drake cause he’s like Rihanna and Macklemore in one. I’d also throw Lauryn Hill in there

always changes but mine would probably be something like

fav: DOOM
dislike: too many
grew on me: Benny
overrated: Wayne
underrated: Big Boi
GOAT: Nas

since we talking Scarface I have him top 5

Yeah, overrated would be Wayne or Kanye for me. Pick one or pick both.

I remember one of my boy’s telling me Scarface was in his top 5. I was dying. Never heard him play a Face CD except for The Fix and he barely played that.

the versatility Scarface has shown throughout his career thru multiple eras.

gives you that real from his pov, kicks knowledge, great storytelling, amazing voice and flow.

lot of the same reasons I hold Nas in such high regard.

In terms of underated rappers I will go with two of my favorites
that hardly ever get mentioned in here or less and less often by
those who weren't around...Maybe a lot of folks have heard the names
but really aren't that familiar with the music...

Kool Keith
Lord Finesse

...should make every "top 10" list in my humble opinion.
two of the greatest

it's a bit weird to put someone who's so known but every time people talk about Outkast its always about Andre, I dont know if people forget to mention Big or just fail to realize how good he is.

Was it Big Boi along with Fabolous who used to rock fake Air Jordan retros
a while back? If so, he could never be one of my favorites; inexcusable in his
position...if not, my mistake.

Kool Keith was kind of DOOM before DOOM. He’s got a ton of projects I rock with and takes a ton of creative liberties with his music. He’s still putting **** out

Big Boi couldn't keep up with Killer Mike in the basement...

...guess he was fresh out from the album...

...but then again, Jay-Z often didn't sound great up at the radio stations and stuff...

"Yah, I'll get off now." - Jay-Z

I’m a HUGEEEEE Andre 3k fan. He’s damn near the GOAT. But he only started surpassing Big Boi because he started dressing weird. Had he kept the 93-95 dress code or simply remained similar in style to big boi, no problem.

Cee-lo went the same route, which made him stand out from goodie mobb. It was the clothing, IMO.

Big Boi was just as technical as 3k
