Just go they aren't that bad. One of my best friends is gay and all of our friend group use to go out with him if he asked us to. The drag shows are pretty entertaining and there are lots of single straight women that are much more relaxed and receptive in the gay clubs. I took many sexy ones home in my college days. Also take it as a compliment if you do get hit on. Gay guys are about as picky as they come, say no thanks and keep it moving.

I have been to several gay bars and for the most part I could tolerate it but after a while all the man on man kissing/affection and their flamboyance gets mildly irritating and makes me nauseous. What's funny is I go to House music clubs all the time out here in Hollywood and there are plenty of gay people dancing and partying and everyone is chill.  But at a gay only bar?  These gay dudes just go buck wild.

If its your friend and they ask you to go with them to----you know what this argument is stupid, you would never befriend a homosexual so I suppose to you its basically a random person inviting you to a gay bar

But if you knew how to read you'd realize that OP is friends with this guy, so it isn't a casual co-worker asking him to randomly come to a gay bar-

A gay guy going to a gay bar is not necessarily the same as a "girls night out"-Many of my gay friends have non-gay people especially when I was in college who were very willing to go with them every now and then to a gay club-it's what friends do for one another but like I said I suppose you have to get over the "I can't be friends with gay people" hump first  (pause)| before you understand where I'm coming from

And I suppose you make a good point, a very liberal heterosexual man from San Fran may not see a problem with having gay friends on the other hand a guy from Mississippi (no offense to Mississippi) may find it difficult to fathom the idea of a white person going befriending a black person and going to black clubs every now and then-It's way outside your "comfort level" and I understand, or maybe you could just be overcompensating for something which as history shows is very much a possibility
