That's because patent leather is a no go for 95% of sneakers (imo) that's not really a good example. I saw the shaqtus in person today, definitely a hot cw. Black attaqs look better though
Its not even a meter of an argument, we all know that is a fact, but still this is a none OG (and not a good none OG) colorway of a great sneaker, and asking the same price as the OG colorways is just silly, we all see the example, that the Shaqnosis no OG's are sitting for ever and will never move for the same price, if at all .
Nice cop!! They're not for me, but I still think they're pretty decent.
Bad sign? To who? They should've made the Black Attaqs limited like the Whites. They didn't sell all that well as a GR. Always a bad sign when Flight Club of all places is selling them for below retail.
Reebok, who else.Bad sign? To who?
I saw the phx pair the other day... Not too bad in person.

Most people consider an OG colorway to be what that player actually wore in a game back then correct? If this is true, then technically the black Attaq's aren't an OG cw since Shaq never wore them in a game. In your eyes they flopped as a release, but we don't know what Reebok profited off those sneakers. They could have netted a nice profit. Or you might be right. We don't know.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But just saying, IMO the Black Attaqs flopped. Retro OG colorway of one of their biggest athletes to ever have been under contract, FSRs sitting on shelves everywhere, even discounted heavily some places (i.e. YCMC for $115 and still sitting, I'm sure more will soon follow). When's the last time you seen a Retro OG colorway Jordan sitting on the shelves over a week? Not comparing Reebok's retro collection to JB in anyway because they will never ever be on JB level and never have been. But when you don't got much left in the vault to release and some of the so-called "Classics" that you've already released have flopped badly (Black Attaqs, All colors of the Answer I and IV), your outlook ain't too bright.
Yes, Reebok probably did net a good profit regardless of them going on sale. These were so overpriced to begin with that I'm pretty sure of that..

I personally think this is just a part of Reebok's plan. They made very limited numbers of the whites. They produced a lot of the blacks, so I don't think you can compare the two releases. They had to know the blacks wouldn't be as hyped. But they knew people that missed out on the whites would want the blacks, since they are very nice in my opinion (and sort of an OG cw like you said). So yea there are a lot of them still floating around like you said, but I'd like to think Reebok definitely made some profit.
Also, OG colorways of J's do sit sometimes. Just recently, you have the Fire Red 3's and Black Tongue 5's (which I'm sure is not news to anyone). They indeed sat for over a week in places. You can still find both pairs soft of easily. I also see a lot of people trying to get rid of their pair that they wore once or twice for below retail. It's as if the masses didn't even want these at all. It's sort of mind blowing to me.
