Kobe was gunning for Finals MVP that year, but shot a horrible percentage(38%)and took way too many bad shots with Prince playing great Defense
Agreed. Robin tried to play the role of Batman this series and it just wasn't meant to be. Sometimes folks just have to realize their role in life and just play their position. Robin tried to over extend himself and it ended up costing him and his team a possible championship. Not to mention that Pistons team was just wanted it more than the Lakers.

They went to a finals the next year and took the spurs to seven games man.Originally Posted by Charles Schwag
2004 Pistons were a fluke. One hit wonder. Got lucky for 1 year.
Similar to the 06 Colts.

Shaq and Kobe each had real clunkers, but look at the production the rest of the team was giving. It was putrid. No Laker outside Shaq and Kobe scored in double figures until Game 5.Originally Posted by JordanJayyy7
Larry Brown happened.
They found a way to do what the nets and Philly couldn't do. Stop shaq.

Game 3 and Game 5 is all you need to know about to figure out why that series played out the way it did. The Pistons dominated Game 3 defensively, then in Game 5, all five starters scored in double figures (Ben Wallace had 18 and 22). That Pistons team was so dialed in it was disgusting. That's why I say the series almost felt like a sweep.
