RIP Takeoff from the Migos

Very sad, unfortunately at this rate there will be more rappers to die violently. I don't know the solution but I hope things get better for them

Aint no such things as halfway crooks.

Cant have one w/o the other, Fools trying to take the wet out of water

Drug / Gangster / Hustler / Pimp etc. rap culture as a whole is not conducive to a long prosperous life most likely because of oh I dunno, maybe the all the drugs, gangsters, hustlers, pimps, etc.

The rapping part just adds money, fame, & spotlight, to a preexisting condition.

Like gas on a fire.

Anyways,

"I don't say too much. Quavo and Offset - I don't talk as much as they talk. I observe the scene."

"I'm not gonna say something unless I really feel comfortable around you. Unless I feel like I know you, I'm not gonna really open up."

"You gotta watch everything. You gotta watch how you move, 'cause you a celebrity. You're a target now, so you always gotta do that. Just stay on your tippy toes"

"My brothers are my security."

"You gotta stay on your P's and Q's. When you popping so hard, got these blessings coming down, you got the devil tryin' to get at you."

"Growing up, I was trying to make it in music. I was grinding, which is just what I loved doing. I didn't have nothing else to do. In my spare time, I'd record myself. Find a beat, pulling em up. Just making something and creating for me."

"In about seventh grade, that's when we started playing around with beats, rhymes."

"We want our legacy to stand upon the youth. We want to give knowledge to the younger generation and be a part of changing the game."

"You gotta bless others so you can get blessed. Keep it real."

This man knew exactly who he was, what he wanted to do, and did what he loved to the fullest - at the highest levels possible, and never switched up.

All before reaching 30 years on the planet.

Never had any kids / baby mommas all over the place & never heard of him being in any social media mess.

From where he started, what an amazing life.

Hope he's receiving his Glory!

I called Takeoff a rap prodigy, in like 2013. And *****s thought I was joking. He was like 18, and about to usher in a flow, that would essentially dominate popular music.

It’s crazy. Because I spent 5 years in the area they’re from. Literally stayed 5 mins from Berkmar/took my SAT there. Know a few of their people. Nice area, with a couple seedy spots here and there…but overall…a good place to grow up and harnest your talent. Which is exactly what takeoff did.

I vividly remember 2012, being fresh out of college…and hitting a house party in Gwinnett…and everybody going crazy to “bandos”. They really started super local. Performing at belushis on club drive etc…then making their way into the city and bigger clubs basically putting on for their side of town, (when the “real Atlanta” used to clown folks from their area - somewhat rightfully so).

Them dudes had some of the most organic blow ups you will see. Complete hard work and actually grinding/being out there. Never would’ve thought they’d reach the heights they did. Takeoff for real a special talent. Born artist. What he did, still going to be felt.

Future…. and Jeezy LITERALLY just shot videos in my hood. The hood of hoods in Fort Lauderdale, these cats shot these videos this year.

Jeezy just had his wife and baby shooting a video in my hood just last week. Multi millionaires.

Most or these guys aren’t going to get rich and just abandon the hood. Kodak still shoots videos in Pompano and Broward county hoods.

The wealthiest politician, Nancy Pelosi’s house just got ran into last week. No one is safe out here. When it’s your time, it’s your time.

Takeoff got killed at a chill bowling alley. On some Random as **** at a private party. You can’t even draw that up. And a stray at that (apparently).

One thing I noticed about Houston/Especially Texas. Everybody is strapped. So you better respect/move accordingly. Indoors, outdoors, Walmart, nursing homes. It don’t matter.

Make DJs / Producers drop the following tags every 30 seconds on gangster / drug dealer rap songs.

"Warning - These bars are for entertainment purposes only"

or...

"*^%$ Son, you going to prison"

Voiced by Shadoe Haze

They have law enforcement and security (usually white) off camera when they shoot those videos in the hood

Can y’all name a rapper who became popular from doing the things y’all are suggesting?

Part of being a rapper is that you have to have the life you portray in order for people to consider you “real”.

So start with that conundrum.

It can’t be both ways.

Kanye
Chance
Vince Staples don’t seem like he be too out there and still make trench esque music

And the level they were at Quavo and Takeoff didn’t have to be out there but again going bowling for your homie bday seems innocent enough

Keef is the perfect example of how to move Lowkey and still be respected as “tough.”

And when ***** do try to change that “condundrum” you speak of, we as a culture wanna deny accountability and blame other folks for what we choose to put in our music lol

This is that cocaine = 3 years, crack = 25 years logic.

Gambling is gambling. Don't make distinctions on the basis of who (class and/or race) is involved in the vice.

...

I get what you are saying but I do think there is a distinction when it comes to where/when the activity takes place.

I come in peace.

This take can’t be real? You really trying to say shooting dice at the Bellagio and outside of a bowling alley is the same thing? Also who said anything about race? Regardless of the race of who is involved the two scenarios are not the same.

The things that annoys me these days when these sad events happen, ppl playing Twitter/Ig detectives and others run with it as facts and others making the incident about everything but what actually happened

Alotta the talk in here is irrelevant…Yo was out of town at a bowling alley, not even in the “hood” , with his ppls who were apparently strapped, staying out the dice game, n there hasn’t been any info bout it being because of his occupation as a rapper or lyrics/music…All the talking points don’t seem to fit but dudes still trying to force it to get their takes off when it should be about mourning and trying to figure out what happened n get some kind of justice…Nothing learned from the PNB situation on how to digest this kinda news :{ , RIP to both of em

😂 don’t nobody be checkin on them dudes.

They have a crowd.

We ain’t them.

I completely feel what you’re saying  but then don’t be in threads like these with the crying emojis if rappers like those are corny to you. That’s the answer to the question of how to fix the condundrum of rap revolving around a certain energy. The consumer has to evolve beyond gravitating towards/allowing dope boy caricatures to flourish otherwise rappers gonna continue to move how they been moving and getting into the situations they been getting into…

All that can’t take no L’s super tough guy **** that got us here stems from the persona rappers/rap crews have to walk around with to not be in the Chance/Kanye/Vince/Tyler cornball lane that “no one is checking for”….

Rap fans are ****in hilarious man lol

Logic like this doesn’t help us :lol

:rollin at it being crack vs. cocaine sentencing logic to not consider a random dice game in a back alley or whatever the same as gambling at a casino with armed security

Also :rollin @ the general idea of these ****** supplementing/replacing their impromptu spur of the moment dice games with going to a whole damn casino

Well there certainly is a conversation to be had about content and who is ultimately responsible for the product...

Be careful on here with that

That being said for as much as a role Lyor and his contemporaries may play in it, ultimately Lyor ain’t brainwash the culture to give certain types of dudes a certain level of admiration and respect for doing certain things before the music and label budgets is even at play.

My spirits have been down all day today

I can’t believe we really lost one of the kings of the ad libs to some goofy ****

Super goofy **** bruh. Literally was the first thing I woke up to today and just had my whole spirit off as well. We literally the only culture that has to deal with this ****. **** is sickening. Stay safe bro..

^ Yeah you right

Just look at the post above.

I aint say a word about Cohen being Jewish (because its irrelevant to the subject) but here "they" come - like clock work :smh:

In this thread of all places too :smh: :smh: :smh:

IMHO Lyor Cohen is responsible / accountable for enriching himself by practicing minstrelsy - again, IMHO.

minstrel show, also called minstrelsy, an American theatrical form, popular from the early 19th to the early 20th century, that was founded on the comic enactment of racial stereotypes.

No different than Hollywood in the 70's with Blaxploitation movies.

Anyway - Migos aint rock with Cohen at all...and the reason has nothing to do with Jewish folks.

Cohen literally held them back for a year and a half and tried to kill their careers...but tell me more about "blaming Jews" in a thread made to honor Takeoff's life / passing. :smh:
