RUN with US on INSTAGRAM #NTrunning (NikeTalkRunning)

From my experience, shorter strides are more efficient for running longer distances, so you'll fatigue less. I feel that the longer strides are for sprinting. If you're concerned about pacing and endurance, shortening your stride is the way to go.

You don't want to overstride necessarily. Do you know if you're a heel striker, midfoot striker, or forefoot striker?

Many people prefer to up their cadence to about 190 steps a minute. This means short, quick strides. Overstriding expends a lot of energy.

Run analysis said im a midfoot striker. Interesting, repped.

@ my co-worker who claims to have "ran" 6km but when we asked why her time was 1 Hour, 12 Min - She admitted to walking "sometimes"

what's up fellows?

Running to get back in shape. It really hit me that I need to get in shape when I realized how far away I am from dunking. It was about 6 years and 45lbs ago since my last legit dunk so I'm just looking to get back in shape now. I downloaded runkeeper a couple of days ago. Did a run/walk combo using it Sunday morning. I like it. Gonna download the Nike+ app I keep seeing here later today.

Any tips? I have Nike Free somethings but I doubt I'd like them to run in.......

42.0 this month. planned on running tonight to close out the month strong but I ordered salt and pepper chicken wings instead SMH.

finished with 49.5 miles this month.

had about a walk and a half off while out of town for work and going out of town with friends :x didn't get any runs in those days

March total is 163.3.

Trying to get back into prime shape for a half-marathon in early May! Marathon training last year had me doing around 220/month...

I'd go to a running store and get fitted. I know this is NT and we like our fashionable shoes, but it will make a big difference. I thought I was doin' it running in Air Max BW's and Nike Presto's a couple years ago, but those will wreck your joints if they are not right for now. I've stuck with the same family of shoe since then and it's worked out well.

As far as running and getting back to dunking shape...I guess it all depends on how far you take it. I used to be able to at least grab the rim pretty easily but now I think after all this running I can barely get bottom rung of the net :\ but of course that's if you really do a lot of long-distance runs.

Try signing up for a 5/10k event, it gives you something to aim for. Or join a running group.

I use to run at my old high school track and see the same people, eventually you get to know them and start running together. But running around a track is pretty dull.

I completed a 14k event last week in about 1hr and 10mins. Is there some kind of app or we can just use this thread to share each other's miles/km total for the month? Keep up the good job everyone!

This thread, Instagram and Nike+ would be the main ones.

haha, thanks, i am far from elite though. i kinda plateau'd my newbie running gains about a year ago so i feel the only way for me to get faster is just by putting in a lot of comfortable miles. my pace for march was probably like 8:45 on average.

i see you putting in some nice work though! to be honest around 7-9 miles is my favorite distance to go on a run before because i generally get right into the zone at that point.

today i wanted to go fast...finally cracked the 7min pace barrier for the first time. had to run through between 2 kids on the sidewalk drawing chalk in the last 100 ft but it was worth it :hat

AWESOME! :smokin I want to break sub7s too, but I'm so inconsistent since I'm not training for anything :/ Hopefully, I get some extra motivation for the Avengers Race in November...

New Month = New Goals + Summer is in 2 months.

Did we ever start a Nike+ Challenge in here?

Not recently :/

We still have to figure out a system to make it work. Instagram/Nike+ may be the solution.

15 mi for March, didnt use Nike+ for the first 2 weeks so im closer to 25ish miles.

Gave up on the adidas Energy Boost 2 and grabbed the Pegasus 31 to gve them another shot, this time they are great. Stuck with my true size 10 as I didnt like the 10.5 at first. Feel amazing.

Im going to stop trying to run 2-3 miles every time I run, I may add speed days where I try to just have a fast mile. Tomorrow ill try that at the local track.

A stitch on my side bothered me today, sometimes I get them, sometimes I dont. Whats the best way to prevent side stitches?

Is there a big difference between nike compression tights and 2xu ? Also are recovery tights a gimmick or actually worth it

Brought the Flyknit Racers out of retirement for April...

Most of the time it's breathing; you might have to slow your pace too. You can make them disappear sometimes. I also get highly affected by them if I eat right beforehand...so I always use the bathroom before I run and avoid eating dense foods prior. Also, there's no worse feeling than having to use the bathroom but being so many miles away...
