Hi ! been a longtime NT.

Any suggestions for a cassette tape deck? I saw the Pyle on Amazon but the reviews are bad. I can’t find any at local thrifts so I’ll hit up eBay. I know the Nakamichi Dragon is very high praises but it’s very expensive. I found my old tapes and wanted something other than a cheap Walkman to play them on. Preferably something with a headphone jack.

You don't need a Nakamichi. I would go middle tier. Sony, Pioneer, JVC, Technics, Yamaha. Generally stick to 80s and 90s decks. Anything after mid-90s won't be as solidly assembled. And I wouldn't resort to ebay. Stick to thrift stores, where they are generally tested and you can test yourself. Far less likely to get ripped off and it's worth the patience.

EDIT: I have a Kenwood KX-W6010 that I got from a thrift store. It's perfectly fine. I may upgrade at some point but it beats what I had before--fits the bill in terms of being a late 80s, reliable Japanese brand tape deck.
