**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | ELIMINATED |

Firstly, R.I.P.

But uhhh...This is kind of big news for the direction of the franchise right? I mean, I hate thinking this way when someone passes, but I didn't know the man.

Yeah, I think we're all in the same boat on this one... we don't have any fan-connection with him, but he did save baseball in Seattle, so for that, we are grateful.  Not to mention his contribution to electronic-entertainment as well.

I think it could potentially have an impact on the team... just not sure how.

Screwed again.

Wow, RIP to the guy.
The interesting thing about Yamauchi's tenure is that he never actually saw the Mariners play a game in person and is believed to be the only owner in major American professional sports to lay boast to that claim. Yamauchi reportedly had an aversion to travel that kept him from ever stepping foot in Safeco Field and a Mariners' trip to play in Tokyo in 2003 was canceled due to the war in Iraq. When the team visited Tokyo last season, team officials said that Yamauchi preferred to watch the games on television.

Wonder will become of all this. Especially Chuck & Howard's position with the team.

Happy Felix Day.

Let's get this!

EDIT

Game delay... swarm of bees on the field.

So...we gonna be any good next year? I'd like to start watching again once I know going into the season we actually have a shot at the playoffs.

Who knows, depends on what kind of leap all these young guys take.... I felt they would take a step from last year but alot of new moving parts changed that. They had their moments this year but it's going to take some better consistency starting next year before I feel more optimistic they'll make a run for a WC spot

**** anything's possible I guess

Kuma wont win the Cy Young, but his numbers are worthy for sure.

He's in the last year of his contract right? His name has been brought up throughout the year as trade bait for various reasons. I wonder how Z is going to play this and if he'll still be on the team after the trade deadline next summer

As of right now the upcoming season is looking as a lame duck if I've ever seen one.

Jack Z brought back on a 1 year deal and rumblings are Wedge is as good as gone. Who's going to want to play here? The next head coach might have to be the AAA coach, if anything. They're frustrating to say the least because at this time last year I thought we were a few moves away from contending and now I feel as if we're further off going into next season.

This team isn't creating any buzz for me right now either. The pitching looks to be extremely promising, but we've done that song and dance before. They need hitters. Bonafide hitters. Unless all these young guys miraculously click and start crushing at the same time, they'll need to go elsewhere to find it, but who will come here?

I don't even care about who the manager is. Wedge isn't the greatest, but it's more a talent thing, I believe.

We have some young guys that have shown potential, but like many here, potential has been the story for years now. Also, I'd hate for the organization to go out and make a bone-headed move like sign Cano for $305 million (please don't..).

We still have one of the best pitchers in the game, a real solid guy in Kuma, and some legitimate young guns like Paxton, Taijuan and hopefully others like Hultzen.

We'll see what happens within the ownership group, here's to hoping Steve Balmer comes out of left field, purchases the team in full, and balls out with the payroll!
