I'm with you DIGITAL, although I'm currently disappointed, I wouldn't dare say this was a disappointing season for the M's.
In fact, I swear all I heard during Spring Training, from a lot of talking heads, was that the M's would be lucky to be .500; even after the signing of Cano.
The baseball season is a marathon, but I can't help but think about that losing streak earlier in the season. This organization isn't as smart as Oakland, and doesn't spend/get enough acquisitions, like Anaheim; to recover from hiccups like that.
Also, the M's just happened to consistently lose a ton of games to teams that really weren't as good (Houston/Rangers) as them.
In conclusion I don't believe the success of this year's club to be like the most recent decent M's club (2009), with vets like Jr, Sweeney, etc., that won 80+ games only to tank the next season.
For the first time in a while, "There's always next year" actually holds value with fans of the Blue and Teal. While it sucks to root for what sucks, that's just how baseball is. When the good occurs it's awesome, and when the suckness makes its annoying usual appearance like Steve Urkel, you just deal with it because the team is like family.
All in all, the M's are a winning team this season and are looking to finish 3rd in the AL West; behind two teams in the division that will both make the post season with legitimate shots at the World Series. I understand if anyone wants to call this season a disappointment, but to call it a failure would be incorrect.
