SEATTLE SEAHAWKS THREAD

Man I feel terrible for Jacksonville :lol :{

Good to see them handle business as they should. I'm so excited for next weeks game. For some reason I always enjoy watching the road games more than the home ones.

Russell should be worried, for sure.

 Ruh roh...

Source: Andre Johnson will have an MRI on his bruised shin.

Johnson got kneed in the leg by Ravens LB Josh Bynes in the second quarter Sunday. He tried to return in the third quarter after X-rays came back negative, but couldn't move well. "I know when I went out there I couldn't play the way I am capable of playing. You see the film -- I'm limping out there around trying to play," Johnson said. The MRI will determine just how severe the bruise is. If Johnson misses time, DeAndre Hopkins will get a big boost.

Glad to see the boys went out there and took care of business today! Next week's game shall be interesting for sure

just got back from the game a little bit ago.
Honestly Wilson still doesn't look to sharp, he clearly benefited from playing JAX. that TD to Sidney was a terrible throw.
But Marshawn Ate
Defense Ate
Golden Ate
Clemons looked good too
Crowd went nuts when they showed the INDY SF game :smokin

Congrats on clinching home field advantage throughout the postseason.

Should be a good game vs Broncos

Long season ahead, home field advantage isn't won until it's actually won. Love the mentality of this team taking it one game at a time.

Like someone mentioned earlier, I love watching away games. Those games really show how we improve. Home games are awesome, but we're supposed to win these.

Sidenote: the Panthers squad that the Hawks beat/shut down on the road went on to obliterate the Giants 38-0 at home in NC; take that pundits...

Next week has me a little worried, but who knows what Texans team is gonna show up. They should be playing better than this but who knows what the deal is. We need win on the road when it counts so next week is a must win.

I don't know about you guys but our home streak is not as big a deal to me. I could see us losing to a game at home but it's those road wins that concern me.

Nobody was really talking about it before the season, but their road schedule is kind of sneaky tough. Opening on the road on the East Coast is never easy (they almost dropped that one). In all, they have five 10 AM games this season, including the upcoming back-to-back against Houston and Indy. A part of me kind of wishes Paul Allen would pay for the team to go straight to Indy and stay in the middle of the country. Also, at Falcons and, of course, the Niners rematch. They kind of have a creampuff home schedule, unfortunately. The only tough home game (on paper) is the Saints, at this point. I think they could go 12-4, either going 8-0/7-1 at home, and 4-4/5-3 on the road.

I see the Saints balling hard when the come to Seattle. Houston I think is a win, but the way the Colts be winning I don't know about that one :lol

We NEED to beat the Falcons

that TD to Sidney was a terrible throw.

Apparently, that was by design (even if it was on the fly). Sidney motioned for Russ to just fling it up there. It was either going to be caught, or batted down by Rice.

Tom Cable is gonna have to work some magic with this Oline.

Michael needs more touches somehow someway in this offense

I sure hope so. He threw a bullseye to the defender

Defender played it lazy though. Didn't see Rice coming across. Also, when he threw it, I thought he had just badly overthrown another crossing receiver, which is probably what the safety thought as well.

He definitly played it lazy. Someone like ET or Reed would have grabbed that with quickness.
But whatever Sidney made an amazing play on the ball and every QB needs that from time to time. So hats off to Sidney on the play :smokin
And wagners INT :smokin

^Didn't catch that he purposely fell down on that TD. I remember when we ran something like that with Carlson vs NO :smokin

^ 2009 might have been a worse year than Holmgrens last in '08. There was ample struggle across the board

Another mention of Russell's tendencies on the snap count

The offense is explosive, and that's probably the most important thing an offense can be. But, it's still searching for rhythm.

Around these parts, if you wait until the Wednesday after a big win to work up a post, you're stuck picking at a carcass that's been pretty well stripped. Most all the juicy stuff has been said, either by the authors or by you all in the comments. So, I'll offer a couple brief insights focused on the offensive line and the quarterback.

Offensive Line: Taking Turns Getting Whooped

Not much analysis here. Guys are missing blocks. A lot of that is timing, and I anticipate that will improve. Guys are a quarter- or a half-beat late at the snap on runs. As a result they are getting turned parallel to the sideline because defenders are beating them to the spot. In pass pro, sometimes they are getting a little narrow at the base, opening themselves up to power and speed. In the photos below, you will see LG, James Carpenter (circled) come out of his stance slowly, and be forced to turn his shoulders nearly parallel to the sideline.

Not shockingly, his assignment gets penetration into the backfield. Although Lynch is able to avoid Carpenter's defender and the crashing linebacker to pick up the first down and more, penetration is kryptonite to a zone blocking scheme.

Now, Carpenter is easy to pick on, but all the linemen are making these mistakes. The result is in a running game that is a bit boom-and-bust right now. To the naked eye the pass blocking has been better overall, though Max Unger getting walked back into the quarterback is becoming a semi-frequent, and disturbing, trend. I'm not worried, though. Not yet. To my untrained eye the mistakes still appear to be random.

Quarterback: Maybe You Could Vary the Snap Count A Bit, Eh?

There are a few little tricks of the trade that need to become bigger parts of Russell Wilson's game. Re-watching the game via NFL.com's Game Rewind "condensed" broadcast is useful for assessing snap count variance. I know that others have speculated that Wilson possibly "tips" snap counts. Well, if this game is any indication then "tipping" might be a more complex explanation than what Wilson actually does.

He scarcely varies his snap sequence or cadence at all, at least not on the first several drives, and that clearly allowed defenders to anticipate the snap. On several plays, as illustrated below, Jaguars defensive linemen are already moving at the snap.

In the play above you can see that, once again, Carpenter is clearly beat. Only this time it's really not his fault. Note that Wilson has only just received the snap and the defender is already effectively past Carpenter. Wilson's snap sequence to that point was so rote --dare I say, robotic-- that the defender easily anticipates the snap count and times it up. Jacksonville did that a lot on the day. Notice that the other down lineman haven't gotten anything like that kind of jump. Carpenter never really had a chance. Luckily, that was the early quick screen to Golden Tate that went for a first down. Still, penetration kills drives and Jacksonville was able to get it pretty consistently.

Jesus that second to last pic :x
Im sure RW knows this though and is fixing it. Somebody who is always in the film room should be able to see this, I hope

Yeah I dont think it'll be an issue to worry about either

Feels like last year, offense will start to click eventually
