Once again, squandered opportunities.
Now what? The tying run is at the plate.Originally Posted by LB510

You know damn well this team isn't going to score 6 runs on a regular basis. Regardless of the score, situational hitting is what is going towin games for this team.Originally Posted by LB510

Yea I guess. If you asked me before the game Sanchez goes 5 gives up 2 hits.Originally Posted by Tim Lincecum
If we did score on those opportunities, it would sent a huge statement to Colorado that we're a serious contender.

Watching the game, you could see all the opportunities we missed out on. It's frustrating. We shouldn't settle for 6 runs. We shouldpounce when given the opportunity.Originally Posted by LB510

They get 10 hits in the game(forget what the record is but when we get 10 hits were money)
Leaving the amount of runners on base that we did and still scoring 6 imo is pretty decent.
This whole team has to step it up when they are put in situations like runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. We have got to cash in on thoseopportunities. Let's say we're in the playoffs, these opportunities better not be squandered. This type of un-clutch situational hitting will not getthe job done. We have to start hitting better in these situations and it's got to start now. We're not just going to start hitting clutch out ofnowhere. It's got to start now so we can have the confidence in September and hopefully October.Originally Posted by LB510
Do Velez and Pablo need to step it up I think they will get those chances later in this series.
I totally understand why Sanchez was pulled out of the game in the 5th. He had 91 pitches and we had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Thesituation totally called for it. We needed to score in that situation. Unfortunately, Bochy went with Lewis and Lewis struck out.Originally Posted by LB510
How many pitches did Sanchez throw? I'm tired of Bochy and this 5 innings $$#!%*@@
Let's be real. Lewis is hitting .362 in his career at Coors -- not .400.Originally Posted by dland24
You guys are funny. Upset at Boch for giving Lewis the pinch hit chance rather than someone else. You guys realize he was 5 for his last 6 in pinch hit appearances going into tonight? Add that to the fact that he is hitting close to .400 in Coors field in his career. Did he look silly? Sure. But you gotta give him that at bat.
In retrospect its really easy to say someone else should have gotten the chance. But I have a really hard time saying I would have picked someone other than the guy who is 5 for his last 6 in pinch hit at bats. No coach would have picked someone else. Period. End of discussion.
If Bochy leaves him in and he gives up the lead, you would be ripping Bochy for leaving him in. He was struggling in the 5th. Get him out whenhe's in line for the win and let the bullpen do its job.Originally Posted by LB510
I'm sure walking the pitcher played a part in that also I just think Bochy gets caught up in the 5 innings a little to much. 91 pitches isn't all that much besides the 30 pitch inning from there no he was smooth. Yes he had 4 walks but he was controlling the damage the one run he gave up wasn't ever earned I believe. Bochy manages him like he's a rookies. Since the no hitter really how many bad starts has he had not that many.
