EDIT:  just showed up to 2013 ASG wearing his go to.  Im really fascinated by this. like how Jerry wanted to figure out why his girl wore the same swoop dress.

Maybe the real Russell died years ago and he's a spirit from beyond who returns for important moments or to hand over trophies.

If that's the case, I imagine he took Mike Miller with him when he went back to the spirit world.
