Pretty much any Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers Band, or Stevie Ray Vaughan. You really can't go wrong with any of their songs.
Also check out Parliament - Maggot Brain (my sleeper pick, Eddie Hazel is ridiculous) & Black Sabbath - N.I.B. (Geezer Butler bass solo and the reason I am trying to learn bass)

FWIW, Covered in Rain is one of my favorite Mayer songs. I wonder how a studio version would be? Probably not as good as the live, but still.
