I haven't bought any track spikes since I stopped running track in high school, but not much has changed since. I am very familiar with most of the nikeand adidas models. Nike usually recycles the same sole/plate every year, I mean if it ain't broke, why fix it? The "superfly" plate is verystiff, and keeps the runner on his forefoot, ideal for a straight line sprint 60m or 100m, maybe even the 200m. The "maxcat" plate is flexible, andeasier on the turns, and designed for the 200m- 400m sprinter. But ultimately , it depends on your style. I've seen "400m spikes" in the 100m,and "100m" spikes in the "400m".

As for the spikes you're looking at. The superfly G5 and the powercat share the same plate. But the powercat is lighter. On the other hand, the superfly G5is heavier, but has more of a glove fit. The Adidas demolisher has a plate that is about the same stiffness as the superflys. And the adistar MD, has aflexible plate, but like all mid-distance shoes it has an additional heel piece.

But I suggest you get a pair of maxcats and a pair of superflys or powercats, just to try both. Or if you already have some spikes, let me know which one'syou like/ don't like and I can come up with some suggestions for you.

Thanks for the recomendation! Ive narrowed it down to 3 choices now. All i have to do is pull the trigger and buy one. If anybody has any other suggestions Ibe happy to hear them!
