I for one wouldn't hate it if they brought Toby Maguirre back as Spider-Man. Whether they tie in and continue the original trilogy or not. Although I hated Spider-Man 3 I think Tobey was an awesome Spider-Man. I'm just getting a little tired of Spider-Mans orgin story on the big screen

http://au.ibtimes.com/andrew-garfie...er-parker-amazing-spider-man-3-report-1400783

The recent Sony Pictures hack revealed Marvel and Sony's plans of a third sequel for "The Amazing Spider-Man." However, producers made it clear that they'd want a fresh start for the movie, where it doesn't focus on the romance as the main story but to have it as a side-story instead. Ultimately, it would also mean a change of actor to play the title role aside from Andrew Garfield.

Currently scheduled for a U.S. release in 2018, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" could probably look into five actors befitting the role. According to Comicbook's Russ Burlingame these possible candidates include "Star Trek" actor Anton Yelchin, "The Flash" star Robbie Amell, "Divergent" actor Ansel Elgort, "Ultimate Spider-Man" mainstay Drake Bell and lastly the original Peter Parker Tobey Maguire.

When Sony's Jeff Robinov told Amy Pascal that he wants "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" to be a clean slate and to start off with an aged Peter Parker, Burlingame thought why not bring back Tobey Maguire. Burlingame assumes having the actor to portray the role again after 20 years would "drive a ton of interest from casual fans." Likewise, it would supposedly be interesting to see if Maguire can still be compelling as the Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: How Sony, Marvel Will Benefit from Unique Deal (EXCLUSIVE)

Marvel has long wanted to put Spider-Man in its movies, but since Sony Pictures controlled the rights to the character since 1999, the web-slinger has been off limits. Making a crossover could have been costly, since Disney would have been expected to shell out millions. But the actual deal turns out to much cheaper — more like free.

Marvel Studios won’t pay Sony Pictures for the rights to put Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” the “Avengers” franchise or its other superhero films, as part of its new partnership with the studio,” according to sources with knowledge of the deal. At the same time, Marvel won’t receive a cut of the box office for any of Sony’s films that feature Spider-Man. Sony won’t receive a percentage of the revenue Disney makes from Marvel’s films that have Spider-Man, either.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also won’t receive payment for his role in helping revive Sony’s “Spider-Man” franchise, according to sources.

Marvel had originally wanted to buy back Spider-Man from Sony. But its resulting partnership, which was in the works since October, is just that — an arrangement that enables both Sony and Marvel to mutually benefit at the box office by having Spider-Man appear in their movies.

The deal actually benefits both sides significantly.

Sony needed to breathe life into its “Spider-Man” franchise, and by lending its character to Marvel has a way to generate more exposure for its big screen hero. Doing so also creates some serious goodwill among Spider-Man fans, who have wanted to see the character become part of the Avengers.

Marvel now gets access to one of the comicbook company’s most popular characters — it already controlled the rights for TV, merchandise and other platforms, but the holy grail for Disney has lately been film, where it has been able to launch franchises that impact the bottom line of all of its various divisions.

Character crossovers across studio films are virtually unheard of and have been considered too cost prohibitive in the past. They’re so rare that Marvel and Fox cast different actors to play Quicksilver in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

But with Sony looking for a creative way to put a spotlight on its franchise, and Marvel so eager to get its hands on Spidey, Hollywood actually figure out a way to work together for once.

The next step for Sony, of course, is to recast Spider-Man. The studio is looking to go back to Spidey’s roots and put the character back in high school, which would require it to cast a younger actor, Variety has learned. Andrew Garfield is no longer playing the character.

The studio is still moving forward with the Spider-Man villain-centric “Sinister Six,” and “Venom” spinoff, as well as a film that features female characters in the “Spider-Man” universe. “The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ has been cancelled. While Marvel’s Feige is involved with Sony’s new “Spider-Man” films, he currently is not expected to be creatively involved with the spinoffs, sources say.

I totally get what you're saying funny thing is I'm the opposite. I liked how they put the cool guy spin on Peter Parker with Andrew Garfield.

The more I think about, the more I think Logan Lerman can be a great fit

Was leaning towards Dylan O'Brien at first. If they're doing high school Pete, these are the only choices IMO

Yall do realize that Peter Parker was only a nerd for a little in the comics. Toby McGuire Peter kept that nerd feeling the whole time except in spiderman 3 when he had the symbiote.

I love the original movies from my childhood, but Garfield is the better Peter Parker.

True. Dan Slott's run of Amazing Spider-Man shows Pete pulling Yambs.

The problem with Peter Parker thus far is no real growth. He's starts as a nerd, then evolves into more. It only makes sense someone's masked and real world confidence increases with that power. So far he's just really straight nerdy or straight snarky. It's like we're trapped in origin story zone for the past 10+ years.

Why does everyone feel like we'll get another origin story again if Spider-man's first appearance will be in civil war. Add to the fact that spiderman is essentially the main hero in civil war and you're going to have plenty of references to Peter's past and not another origin story. You'll have to see the reaction from many people in Peter's life when he unmasks himself in front of the world so civil war will most likely be centered on Peter being this larger than life superhero who's fandom is split down the middle and is the the catalyst behind both tony and Steve's views. They'll both brag about the kid and proclaim how they see a little of themselves in Peter, getting all in his head and his feels...

CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!

If you bring back Mcgurie for Spider-Man then you have to bring back Topher Grace as Venom, it's only right.

Rumor: The New Spider-Man Won’t Be White

1000

TheWrap’s Jeff Sneider dropped the news during an appearance on the Meet the Movie Press podcast:

Listen, this is not set in stone guys, but I’m telling you right now, Spider-Man’s not going to be white. Spider-Man’s not going to be white. I’m 95% sure. Spider-Man’s going to be most likely black. But there’s a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure, not white.

I really feel strongly. Sony has an opportunity to beat Marvel and DC to the punch with a major black comic book character. Like I mentioned last week, the emails that leaked were perceived as racist in some quarters. I really think that’s going to play into things.

Rumor is bull. Why would Marvel want another ethnic character to take away shine from black panther who's role already has to be scaled back because of Spider-mans inclusion...

99% Spiderman will be Parker. 616>>>
