I think Carey, as perfect as he was at one point to play Cletus Kasady, is a little too old now. Might've just been a fan of the film...who knows.

As for this whole Alistor and Spencer Smythe deal, I'm beyond ecstatic but at the same time I feel like the movie might skip the spider slayer idea and just make them head oscorp scientist with wacky ideas

Well they only spoke about Alistairs dad, I am not even sure if he (his dad) is casted in the film. And keep in mind, that is just a viral bit from the film and the plan to make at least 2 more afilms after this so they do not necessarily need to put Alistair and the slayers in this film.

"Cold Blooded Killer" is the headline of the latest Daily Bugle viral article for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but far more interesting are the numerous Easter Eggs littered throughout this report.

A trial date has been set in the New York Appellate Court for alleged bio-terrorist Dr. Curt Connors. The former Oscorp biogenetics scientist has been indicted on twenty city and state counts, including trespassing, malicious destruction of property, theft of private property, aggravated assault, and using a weapon of mass destruction. Connors has pleaded “not guilty” to all counts. It is expected his defense attorney, Anne Weying, will claim Connors was not responsible for the actions of his genetically transformed alter ego, the Lizard.

Connors claimed that pressure placed on him by his employer, Oscorp, led him to rush his bio-restorative formula and test it on himself. He further stipulated to the grand jury that his decision to use the untested compound was made in an effort to protect the company from experimenting on innocent civilians, as directed by his superiors. Connors’ immediate supervisor at Oscorp, Dr. Rajit Ratha, has been missing since the day before the Lizard’s attack.

Oscorp spokesman, Donald Menken, responded, “We can’t corroborate or deny Dr. Connor’s claims. Dr. Ratha’s abrupt departure from Oscorp has left us with far more questions than answers. Needless to say, Oscorp has always complied with the most stringent local, state and federal regulations for all of our research and development.”

Firstly, it was written by Ned Leeds; the reporter who often battled Peter Parker for the affections of Betty Brant and was eventually brainwashed by Roderick Kingsley into donning the Hobgoblin mantle. Connors' lawyer is none other than Anne Weying, the woman who would later marry Eddie Brock and for a time became She-Venom before committing suicide. Finally, Donald Menken is an Oscorp employee fiercely loyal to Norman Osborn.

According to The Wrap, Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal has today hinted that the studio are planning a number of spin-offs featuring various supporting characters from their Spider-Man franchise. "We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains," Pascal teased during a presentation to investors earlier today.

I'm thinking:

Venom (most likely Agent Venom)
Black Cat
Spider-Girl (maybe)

Some other risky stuff would be villain movies, mainly the Sinister 6

... and then there's other stuff that's just a long shot and really risky: Spider-Man & the Outlaws (could add some color to the cast with The Prowler, Rocket Racer, and maybe Cardiac too), maybe Silver Sable as a Nick fury type where she's the top merc clashing with Spidey at times and other times working with or employing him, and a dream come true would be the clone saga which would lead to a Ben Reiley: Scarlet Spider movie.

All I really want to see at this point is Kraven done well. That last hunt :hat Plus get the Kingpin back. I want to see something like the commission with him, Silvermane, Mr. Negative, Tombstone, the Maggia, Crime-Master, and a few others.

I'm not particularly sure SONY currently has a good enough cast or good enough writers to pull any of this off though especially if they want to succeed with accessing the full world of Spider-Man characters

Oh also:

Spider-Man 2099 (if they have the rights, I think they do)

Spider-Ham animated movie would make bank :lol

Lamekilla about to have a wet dream...

Entertainment Chief Michael Lynton has now shed some further light on that, after telling investors today that "We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works." These will apparently feature various characters and villains from the movie series, and despite not offering any specific details on who exactly are in those scripts, he did reveal that Sony is "working closely with Marvel and Disney."They have a much better relationship with Marvel than Fox, so this should come as good news to fans.

Is A Carnage and Venom movie truly feasible if they are working closely with Disney though...
Hmmmmmm

^^^^ but isn't it too late to include Spiderman in the Infinity Gauntlet setup?

Not necessarily. He could always just have a brief cameo in A2 and just like that he's acknowledge as part of the Marvel Cinematic universe but I'm thinking they could even go a civil war route. I mean the possibilities are now endless with this type of news
