they had amazing concept but executed very poorly
fundamentally, it was like a college kid making his first movie
there was a lot of dumb crap said about the show that ws unwarranted but otuside of that, it was a badly written and put to film even worse
and sadly most fans who liked it that ive seen and read (and some have spoken to) are simply happy with the sh*t they made at the small chance that a rose sprouts out of it and shows shouldnt be started that way
it has to be done well from the very start and not "oh im going to plant a seed here and tease plagueis and ill have the fans clamoring so much disney will have to greenlight the next season instantly"... and thats how it felt like throughout the series
hell go read the person in charge and how she said manny jacinto wasnt suppose to even have a bigger role but he was so good they had to put him in and dude it undoubtedly the best part of the series so what they hell did they have if they had to add him in there for that much screentime?
i rated it as an average show but thats also excusing a lot of the fundamental mistakes they did in filmmaking (and as mentioned above, without manny, id rate the show lower)
and i was a champion of this show the first few episodes but as it went along, it just got worse and worse until the overall product ended up being bad or average at most
it really is like a snyder film, lots of flash, good concept and great action but he just cant make the whole film by himself, you dont go full snyder
honestly i think andor is the better example, its a great show and gives you a different star wars pov but it has one of the lowest viewership of the sw series' and people hated that its not action heavy so they crap on it and rate it low and i have heard a lot of people say it snot star wars (which is just dumb)
again acolyte has an amazing concept but thats not enough, you got to execute it and not just leave promises in hopes more season comes, go all out in that one season and if you are good enough writer/producer, you got more things to deliver that will top it
thats just how i see it and i admit i am a casual star wars fan so none of these lore and canon stuff bothered me a bit, hell i have to look them up after seeing the episode to even know if there were some meaning to a lot of those stuff
its also why i never hated any SW films, i can enjoy them as a standalone because none of those lores and inconsistencies bothers me at that very moment but overall the show and its structure and how its edited and story was just badly done, just no other way to put it, it was pedestrian and probably also resulted in the show looking cheap
my point is a less than above average show isnt a good example for your point
like all of these, it should have all been on season 1 not a lot of coulda, woulda, shoulda stuff
they shoulda introduced plagueis in like episode 2 or 3 once the whodunit crap was revealed and hit the floor running from there
