Again, yall just in here bugging :lol

I and other people have already said multiple times that we're not crazy about the prequels but to say that those movies didn't create Star Wars fans is just :rolleyes

I'm done. In any case, here's what made ME a Star Wars fan :smokin

The clone wars (old and new) are probably the best stories told on film so far. Really good job of delving into the world of the prequels.

The Clone Wars animated series is God Tier for me :hat. Didn't hurt that it was animated in the same style and by the same buy as another GOAT cartoon,Samurai Jack

There's no need to get into the "prequels suck" again, but they did create new fans. There's probably no real data or evidence one way or another, but just think of all the little kids who got taken to Star Wars by their parents and who might have become fans of the franchise. Kids don't care about dialogue or plot holes like that.. they just saw cool pod racing, silly Jar Jar and cool lightsaber battles.

Im just gonna leave that alone.

Sometimes i forget to realize that people have varied tastes in everything.

Who knows...after all 9 are released the prequels might be some kind of cult classic with a niche following.

do you really not understand how people fall off though?

to the point where it is like they are two different people.

there are stories about how the original star wars was a total mess and the editor saved the movie, so maybe we should just give lucas less credit as a director.

m night shyamalan directed some solid movies then went to total garbage. No idea why it happens but it does happen.

If george lucas comes out with a new movie that is well directed, I will give him props for making a good movie. If it's bad then I'm going to say its bad.

If QT's 9th movie is hot garbage, im not going to pretend its good just because I love his past work

and if goes past 10 movies and gives us 5 straight horrible movies, then I'll say he's lost his touch and is now a bad director.

sidenote regarding michael bay, he is a WAY better filmmaker than lucas. He just really really sucks at screenwriting and picking scripts.
We're talking two different things here then. There's a good director making a bad movie and a bad director just happening to have a good movie or two earlier in their career.

To me the distinction is clear for most.

I'm not really talking about ppl who fall off.

QT's next 2 movies could be trash it wouldn't make him a bad director. I wouldn't agree with you if he made 5 bad movies and he is not a bad director either.

I wasn't comparing Bay to Lucas at all but I know I really have no desire to watch Bay movies.
another example

byron scott went from coaching the nets to the finals twice and winning a COTY to legit being the worst coach in nba history
Byron Scott always sucked as a coach. It was that offense designed and headed by that white guy something Frank.

On top of that that Nets team was playing in one of the weaker Eastern conference fields that decade. This right after playoff teams like the Bucks (w/ Allen, Cassell, Big Dog), Philly (w/ A.I.), Hornets (w/ Mash), etc. broke up and stopped being that good.

It's also why I feel it was a cake walk for the Lakers and Spurs in those finals and the real NBA finals was the WCF for the most part.

All that said, Byron Scott sucks as a coach. Those titles and awards mean nothing. He was always that bad of a coach yall was just distracted by prime JKidd.
Naw thats not a reach famb thats fact.
There's a whole generation of kids who became SW fans because of the prequels.

I don't think you know what a fact is :lol or at least I think we all know you can't prove what you just said.
"I know" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>"i dont like sand"
:rollin

Did you really compare those two lines? :lol

All I'm gonna say is that everybody loves Darth Maul and his double lightsaber. Half of those people who love him weren't even born when episode 1 released.......

So after coming home from my third viewing of TFA I have no choice but to question the sexuality of any man who would not immediately propose to Daisy after an initial meeting

Let's just say my opinion on George Lucas as a director is the same as Byron Scott as a coach
Okay, that's clear and makes more sense.

Only thing I'd point out is before when this topic started you were defending what he did with ANH. If somebody was ******** on Scott including the years he was coach of the Nets going to the finals he still wouldn't get a defense by me cuz I feel he isn't a good coach.

u smitten b
Word.

What I look like proposing to Daisy Ridley :lol

I was defending elements of the movie and didn't want to be that guy to not give George any credit for a movie he directed.

When I think a film maker isn't good I assume any good movies in their resumes are flukes or that the movie succeeded in spite of them not because of them.

I get not wanting to look like you're not giving George any credit but usually when the George hate starts flooding in it looks like ppl want to give the least amount of praise/credit possible and when it is given it's backhanded void of any respect.

I like how tfa is getting a new generation into star wars.

The prequels could not do that.

Tfa may have had unnecessary things in it...but it had everything i wanted lol.

Bruh that's just a dumb statement.

Again, yall just in here bugging :lol

You really just can't beat the original Clone Wars series man. :smokin My only complaint is that it didn't go on longer. Lightsaber duels, space combat, focus on Clone Troopers, Mace ******* Windu tearing apart droids with his bare hands :hat

As it should.

He'd absolutely qualify as a fluke director with Star Wars. Nothing else he's directed has been worth a damn. Zilch.

Creative innovator. Without a doubt.
Pioneer. Absolutely.
Marketing genius. You bet.

No one bags him for that.

But GL lovers beg us to forget he's a lying *** hypocrite. He used to fight for the American public's rights to keep films in their original form, only to spend decades going against that very stance.
Or that he sold out the health of his one franchise for bogus kid claims. (And the FIRST thing Disney did was try to win back the fanbase, telling)
Or that he lied over and over about his scripts. (Telling Spielberg he had a Indy trilogy written, clamining he had 1 Star Wars film, then 3, then 6, then 12, then it was 9. Every interview was a different number. :lol )

Bring up those things and we're bad guys, even when we give him credit for the things he does deserve, but call him out the same way, for the things he deserves.

In his white slavery interview he said "I'm done with big pictures, I wanna make small films that aren't popular"

5 minutes later he claims he was working on Star Wars 7. Same damn interview, conflicting points. Hell, Rose even double checked to be clear, "You were working on making another Star Wars?"

It's all fine tho. He created the Star Wars universe. Props. He finally sold the franchise so new work can be created, every year, exactly what I've always wanted. Props. Thank you for that George.

But the prequels? ******************* you on that George. You ruined the greatest Trilogy we ever could have seen. Not to mention continuing to ruin the one that was successfully done. At least some of us kind of have completed unaltered versions.

In respect to this conversation I will watch THX 1138 and American Graffiti and get back to you on his abilities as a director
