A little more information.
Suge Knight's mob connections were mainly through his lawyers. David Kenner, an attorney for Death Row Records, represented a number of mobsters in the 1980's and was said to have ties to the Genovese family. Two other lawyers Knight used, based in Las Vegas, were John Spilotro (the late Anthony Spilotro's nephew) and Oscar Goodman (who of course represented Anthony Spilotro and other mobsters.) In addtion, a business manager for Death Row named Steve Cantrock supposedly introduced Knight to Robert Amira, a Las Vegas businessman who had been indicted along with Joseph Colombo Jr. and Alphonse "The Whale" Merolla in a scheme to defraud the Dunes Hotel and Casino. Eventually, through dealings with mobsters supposedly connected to the East Coast, Chicago, and Las Vegas, Knight spent $800,000 to buy an old club called Botany's, who's previous owner had been convicted of helping the Chicago Outfit skim money from the Stardust Hotel and Casino. Knight changed the name of the club to Club 662, which opened in 1994.
Read some accounts of the murder/accident. Didn't realize the dude from Training Day had beef with Suge Knight to begin with
