Sweet Tea Appreciation.... vol. Dear Summer

This drink is a STAPLE at my parents house in the summer. There is nothing better than cooking out, and having some sweet tea to go with the meal. If you arefrom the south, you know what it is!!!

*I fully expect Ant to come in and endorse this thread...

wowwww . . . i was in athens georgia for a week, and i had heard about this drink sweet tea thinking "what's the big deal." i ended up drinkingthis every meal, every day. too bad no one on the west coast knows how to make it, except for the few and far between chick-fil-as. i could definitely go forsome of this rite now.

Don't get me started on this. I love when I go home to FL and every where u go u can get sweet tea with ur meal. U try 2 order this up here in NY and theyhand u some iced tea...

P.S Arizona is not real sweet tea. U need to get on that real brewed joint

^^^ could you shine some light on how to make your own? someone told me you have to make it hot, then put the sugar in while its boiling, but it didnt come outrite . . .

You need black tea. Just boil water, add tea and pour into a serving pitcher. Then make some simple syrup (boil some water+sugar until its a uniformliquid). Add the simple syrup to the tea and mix and let it cool.... Measurements are up to your taste preference. I use a quart of hot water and then add thetea. Then I use 6 cups of water and 3 cups of sugar for the simple syrup mixture. Not too sweet, juuuust right

boiling sugar??? thats new...i just add the sugar to the pitcher like i was making Kool-Aid and pour the boiled tea mixture in...from ATL so you alreadyknow what the deal is with tea down here...but i've slowed down since homegirl at my school got kidney stones from drinkin it

I can appreciate it, cuz I can see it everywhere I go, but am I the only person in Atlanta who hates sweet tea?

I shouldn't say hate... it's such a strong word. But I really can't stand it. I'll drink it if there's nothing else. But everybody drinksit like it's project kool aid, and I really would prefer the kool aid...
