I live in ktown, so I tend to hang out around here to DTLA. Also some Echo Park & Silverlake sprinkled in.Daytime:
Overland Cafe, Brick and Mortar, and Bungalow as mentioned previously. Lock and Key is also supposed to be good (haven't been yet). Pool parties at the Roosevelt and W are good
Nightime:
Mainly frequent SM (Main St or Makai) and Downtown Culver (usually Rush) bc of proximity. Plenty of good spots in dtla too
I like Lock & Key, great music with good talent. The Ice Cream day party in Sunday is lit but it does get way too crowded for that small area.
If you like asians, the Line Hotel on Fri & Sat is always packed and plays good music. They have a bar upstairs in the Commissary restaurant. Really, the Line Hotel has given ktown a face lift as 'cool' places to eat & hang out.
Honeycut & Association are a couple other places that aren't bad. I'm more into the lounge/bar scene that plays good music rather than clubs tho
