you talking about that $100 ultimate collectors set? hell no, it looked cool but too much for me. im just gonna cop the DVD set. amazon.co.uk has is for under $20 shipped so i'll get it there next time i place an order with them.

im pissed maiden had to choose san bernardino for their socal date that city and especially that venue

I wanna try to hit all three cities here in Texas but there all really close. 100 bucks is crazy for that box set. The only way I'll pay that is if I found the Eddies Archive boxset and that goes for a little under 200.

So what 2010 releases are you guys looking forward to or have already nabbed? Apparently I missed Ihsahn's record dropping, so I have to grab that, and obviously, everyone here is stoked about the new Maiden, so I'll omit that. That aside, here's what I must have this year.

Control Denied- When Man and Machine Collide
Nevermore- The Obsidian Conspiracy
Periphery- Periphery
Unleashed- As Yggdrasil Trembles
Bullet for my Valentine- Fever
The Absence- Enemy Inbound

Plus all the unnamed albums coming from After the Burial, Necrophagist (which is turning into the tech death version of Chinese Democracy), Protest the Hero, Avenged Sevenfold, Children of Bodom, Decapitated, Aborted, Whitechapel, Veil of Maya, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and even whispers of a new Faith No More
happy.gif

Dillinger Escape Plan should be good, looking forward to the new Deftones album on May 18th too.

- Tical.

if bodom comes out this year ill be all over it

what ive listened to so far this year:

antares predator - twilight of the apocalypse
decrepitaph - beyond the cursed tombs
kalmah - 12 gauge
eluveitie - everything remains as it never was
finntroll - nifelvind
borknager - universal
arkaik - reflections within dissonance
dark tranquillity - we are the void
darkthrone - circle the wagons
hellish crossfire - bloodrust scythe
varg - blutaar
dark fortress - ylem
overkill - ironbound
arsis - starve for the devil
catamenia - cavalcade
trauma - archetype of chaos
ragnarok - collections of the king
immolation - majesty and decay
imperium dekadenz - procella vadens
martriden - encounter the monolith
ikuinen kaamos - fall of an icon
lost dreams - wages of disgrace

ill admit, i cheated on a few only listening to them halfway or so such as catamenia cause theyre starting to suck now and i didnt find the album interesting at all. also theres a butt-load of $#+* on my desktop that im too lazy to upload into itunes
laugh.gif

if i were to recommend some albums in 2010 it would be antares predator (great black-thrash), decrepitaph, borknager, kalmah (still doing it after all these years), hellish crossfire, overkill, immolation, imperium dekadenz (if you like wolves in the throne room) and my favorite so far martriden (melodeath)

ill do anticipated albums later, but control denied is def at the top of my list. same with that *@%+!!+$$*@%% wintersun album. why must you punish us jari, release it already!!

and as for dillinger and i havent decided on whether ill go when they come. i dont listen to them but i hear they throw good shows. if i do go itll be one of those spur of the moment type things
Killswitch Engage Frontman Allegedly Steps Down From Tour Due To Pornstar Pregnancy (Updated)
06.03.10 @ 2:19 pm Posted by wookubus

Rumors have been running rampant for weeks now regarding the reason why Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones stepped down from the band during the bands current headlining tour. ThePRP has now exclusively learned that Jones temporarily stepped down from his position as a result of allegedly getting pornstar Allie Foster pregnant.

To date Foster’s claims have not been verified publicly bythe band themselves. However, the situation looks to have since taken aturn for the worse with Foster posting the following statement on her official Twitter page:
Howard Jones of Killswitch engage, meet TMZ and your bitter baby momma coming with sweet sweet *%*%+# revenge you dirtbag.

So I've never really listened to Hardcore or Metal or anything of the sort but a few months ago I saw Glassjaw live and it was amazing. Now I'm basically into Glassjaw and the Deftones, what else would you guys recommend?

From your above list, I forgot to mention Borknagar, Arsis and Dark Tranquility. I have the Arkaik and Decrapitaph records, and I'm rather impressed with both. That Wintersun record is driving me nearly as insane as the lack of a Necrophagist record in the last 6 years. To continually be given new release dates is one thing, but to physically speak to Suicmez at Summer Slaughter last year and have him tell me the new record is coming very soon and that not happen, is incredibly frustrating. As for Wintersun, I've heard a myriad of things from their computer screwing up to Jari hitting writer's block/depression. I can't speak to how true any of those scenarios are, but it is awfully ironic how their album "Time" is taking so much time.

As far as the new Obscura goes, it pretty much rules. It's a re-release of their first LP Retribution, and despite a remaster, I don't like the mix quite as much as Cosmogenesis. It's not quite as heavy or versatile, and sounds more like a straight forward death metal record than the extreme tech death they displayed on Cosmo. Another thing, I adore their bass player. He reminds me so much of our bass player and Steve DiGiorgio, cause he combines that a million notes per second thing our bassist has goin on and the fretless aspect of DiGiorgio. I'm also glad to see him jamming with Pestilence again. Christ, I love that band. Anyhow, I digress. Part of the reason I don't like Retribution as much as Cosmogenesis is he isn't nearly as prominent in the mix. Bass players are so much more important than a lot of bands let on, which is why I'm glad we have such a good one and turn him up whenever possible. It makes me sad when bands treat bassists as afterthoughts, but that's a whole different discussion. Get the new Obscura, it rocks!
