THANK YOU GSWARRIORS FOR AN AMAZING YEAR...CONGRATULTIONS CLEVELAND CAVALIERS.

You mean 96 for sure right?
Actually the 2016 Warriors are more in a similar Situation like the 92 Bulls.
Why?
Because :
1. They are going for back-to-back
2. Several players improved compared to the previous season
3. They are both offensively strong teams
4. Most star players are still in their 20's

The 1996 Bulls were:
1. A team with MJ getting back to basketball shape after bitter defeat against Orlando in 1995
2. Bulls were far away from no.1 in their conference
3. Most star players were over 30 years old
4. Bringing in Rodman and have Armstrong leaving was a big change in the roster
5. Their biggest advantage was their excellent team defense

I normally wouldn't chime in on a team thread, but felt I needed to say this: a lot of Bulls fans say the '92 team was actually the best Bulls team of the six winning teams. 67-15 a few years after expansion had settled down and the league was very competitive. Also, it was before the era of bloated contracts that ruined the league a few years later.

The '96 Bulls benefited from even more expansion, rule changes that favored Jordan (decreased hand checking), shorter three-point line (which Jordan took advantage of), etc.

Not exactly. Jordan only benefited from the shorter 3pt line in 1996. The handchecking was actually an advantage as himself was using it very much. And back in 1980s until early 1990's teams were playing much more offense like nowadays having scorings like 110-130 more frequent while many matches in 1996 were rather low scoring (70-100)

And MJ scored more in 1980s to early 1990s by averaging 32.5 ppg in 8.5 seasons.
It also must be mentioned that MJ lost some speed, jumping ability after his 1st retirement.

very much like no one cares about the 16-0 patriots that lost to the giants in the superbowl, no one is going to care about or mention the 73-9 warriors if there is no trophy. it'll always be 73-9* with that asterisk because of no title.

If you get the 73-9 record and didn't win the championship, then technically, you weren't better than the 96 Bulls, cause they won it all. How are you going to be that good and then lose the biggest series of games that matter the most? Those 96 Bulls killed everything, they Killed SEA in the finals, and they were good

I don't know why people are comparing the 96 Bulls with today's Warriors. Different time, slight alternate in rules (Hand checking), and definitely different level of opposition. Also you have to take injuries into consideration as well, that may happen in the future.

96 Bulls had 3 superb defenders, a couple superb rebounders, IMO would demolish Warriors today.

Has to be the worst thing going right now. I blame ESPN. Why can't people just enjoy today and stop trying to compare A to B.

Because comparisons were always there. It's been done for decades.
Every new superstar or winning team will be compared to the ones from the past.

Well that is just wrong. The three-point line wasn't moved back until the '97-'98 season. MJ had two full seasons with the shorter line. Two of his three best three-point shooting seasons (by far) happened those two years. He certainly gained an advantage from it. He utilized it knowing he didn't have the same athleticism.

Also, the high scoring '80s and early '90s were a result of teams just not playing defense. Nobody really tried on defense until the early '90s. That was around the time when defensive coaching became a thing. The NBA had good one-on-one defenders, but there was no concept of team defense. The '90s ushered in the era of team defense. The Knicks went full-on backyard brawl, knocking people to the ground. After the league took away hand checking (in 1994), it was meant to open up the game. It did the opposite. The interior defenses were still physical, there was no defensive three seconds, and the game slowed down to a funeral dirge.

I think you misread my post above :) i said the only advantage MJ got in 1996 compared to the seasons he played before his retirement in 1993 was the shorter 3pt line.
That's why he shot suddenly 43% from the arc.
But the absence of the handchecking was not an advantage for MJ as himself was using it much and he confessed later that his hands were that strong that he could tweak the opponent towards the direction a bit for his favor without the refs noticing it.
Im sure you can find that Interview on youtube.

Considering your reply about team defense, i fully agree. It was not that players could not play lockdown 1 on 1 defense but that the team / transistion defense was not a big focus until the mid 1990s.
While most NBA teams still did not play defense like some highschools or college teams, it was obvious that the defensive efforts caused players being faster exhausted to do fancy 1 on 1 moves in the offense and the team scorings went down.
I think team usa 1996 and 2000 had the lowest scorings even against other national teams.

sports by its nature of being a competition warrants comparisons of all sorts. **** can get irritating, but i'm sure sensationalizing what the warriors are doing by comparing it to the 96 bulls definitely gets the NBA more money. People want to witness history being broken so you've got cats from **** hole cities in the middle of nowhere watching warriors' games just see if that elusive 72 win team can be eclipsed. Adam Silver is definitely somewhere doing the birdman hand rub right now.

Damn i missed the game yesterday. I went to super bowl city instead. Thought that game was gonna be weak because it was the 6ers!

Today is a game I've been looking forward to! It's always special @ at MSG and now they have 3-6-Lativa. Can't wait

I wonder if yesterday's game gassed them

It was ok. Kinda dead. Expensive as hell and attractions weren't that good

Highlight was the fireworks show over the Bay bridge. Def the best fireworks display i have ever seen. The concert was cool but not my type of music.

If you're going to do it i would bring your own brew and food and hit that up across the street at the ferry builfing then walk in for a concert. Def gonna go back for alicia keys. Next weekend will be crazy
