But the fulcrum, the essential ingredient on both ends of the floor, is Bosh, who spurned a chance to join Dwight Howard and James Harden in Houston and chose to stay in Miami after James returned to Cleveland. A five-year, $118 million contract -- one year and $30 million more than the Rockets could offer -- was a significant variable in that equation. It's also something Bosh has been refreshingly honest about.

But on Monday night, he revealed to CBSSports.com another factor in his free-agent decision -- one that offered plenty of insight into just how stressful and transformative the Big Three's four-year championship gauntlet really was for him.

Money was a factor. Comfort level was another. But given a chance to insert himself into another Big Three as the third wheel with the Rockets, inviting all the attention and expectations that would've come with it, Bosh ultimately said: No, thanks. I'm good.

"I could see where people would think that's an attractive site," Bosh told CBSSports.com, speaking of Houston, where half the NBA expected him to land back in July. "They were trying to win right away. And I was really happy to be touted that I possibly could've been out there. But you know, that doesn't guarantee anything, and I know that. All that guarantees is a bunch of pressure."

I guess after four years, Bosh didn't want to become just "another" guy to go with loving Miami and the max money. Can't even blame him.

Lol cry baby

I dont eem think it was real bulls fans just pau gasol fans jumping ship :lol

Come on, man. You know better than that. Bulls games v. the Clippers have been that way for years. Same with the Celtics and Knicks. It's all the transplants out here.

It's a recipe for plenty of shots — Kobe's league-leading 244 field-goal attempts are 26 more than second-place Carmelo Anthony, who has played 49 more minutes than Bryant this season — and misses, as the new record-holder in that department  has missed 33 more shots than second-place Anthony en route to a career-low 37.7 percent mark from the floor.
One key factor in that sagging shooting percentage: Kobe's really struggling to find open looks these days. The NBA's SportVU player tracking system has data for eight of Bryant's outings this season; in those games, he's taken 196 field-goal attempts, and 154 of them  — 78.6 percent — have come against either "tight" defense (meaning the closest defender is between 2 and 4 feet away from the shooter) or "very tight" defense (between 0 and 2 feet away). He's made just 35.1 percent (54-for-154) of those tightly contested shots, compared with 52.4 percent (22-for-42) of his more open tries. He went 7-for-22 on contested attempts against the Warriors, and 8-for-12 when he had at least 3 1/2 feet of daylight.

When Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant spoke to Dwight Howard on Tuesday, his words to the free-agent center resounded an unmistakable and unflinching message: Let me teach you how to be a champion.

“You need to learn how it’s done first, and I can teach you here,” Bryant told Howard during the Lakers’ presentation, witnesses in the room described to Yahoo! Sports.

“You have to learn how it’s done,” Bryant told Howard, witnesses described. “I know how to do it and I’ve learned from the best – players who have won multiple times over and over.”

Instead of trying to do things your way, just listen and learn and tweak it, so it fits you,” Bryant told him.
