In SI's defense, none of the other West Coast teams really have a combo of players that fit into the old school/new school theme they have going for this season's preview covers. Clips and Warriors don't. I guess they could have gone with Caron Butler and Willy Cauley-Stein from the Kings, but they probably figured Kobe and the 2nd overall pick might move a few more units.

Oh, and I know Magic tweeted that he thinks the Lakers will make the playoffs. So, they got that going for them . . .

Lakers might suck but will be fun to watch. Metta knuckling up with anybody going at Roy again, JC is a stud, Lou wilville, Kobe and dlo. And of course Julius griffin.
