Finally got my Ubiq's today and they're pretty damn nice! Only thing that sorta bugs me is the ashy looking leather. I kinda assumed that it was how they filtered some of the promo pics that made them look like that, but am considering applying some leather conditioner to give them that deep dark brown look since I am planning to wear them as a "casual Friday" type of sneaker with denim and button ups.

some unfiltered pics. ashy indeed... the last pic with the flash shows it best. but i'm still very satisfied with these... especially on sale. practical pair for the rotation, in terms of CW and cleaning.

Glad to know I didn't just get a bum pair. Perhaps they meant for them to look like the leather is as old as the Liberty Bell! I tried some leather conditioner and it helped a bit but not as much as I hoped. Ah well, guess I'll chalk it up to them looking broken in from the start. Planning to wear them this weekend.

didn't even know about the liberty bell thing. but that does explain why there's a bell on the insoles... lol
the first day i wore them it started to rain... but i wasn't even mad though, bc most of my rotation is suede anyway.

Yup the leather definitely did not have the gloss that the promo shots were showing. I applied some Renovateur and it looks a much richer brown. A word of caution though, the conditioner (especially mink oil based ones) darkens the leather to the point that the laces do not really match anymore, but that's easily fixed with a spare set of brown waxed laces i had lying around.

Yeah, I just used some Timberland brand leather conditioner I had in my shoe cleaning kit and it looked nice and dark at first, but dried to about the same finish they had straight out of the box. Maybe slightly darker, but not super noticeable.

These just came in and they are absolutely gorgeous. Hands down the best Brooks collab so far for me, they look very elegant and the quality of the materials and craftsmanship is spectacular.
Also, definitely swapping out the ropes for the extra grey flats.
