The College Basketball Post

Damn. Skal is losing some money.

Unless he has a dramatic turnaround to his season, he's gonna have to come back next season a whole new player. Dude has been awful. If he was half of what Kentucky thought they were getting they'd probably be undefeated right now.

He's likely not returning to Kentucky under any circumstances. His family situation isn't the greatest. Even if he doesn't turn it around he's still a first rd pick. Especially in a draft that's relatively weak.

I guess because it's a really weak draft he still could go at the end of the 1st round, but dude was supposed to be just about a guaranteed top 3 pick coming out.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he went in the second round if he continues playing like this. He's been bad enough to go undrafted, but somebody will probably take the chance on him.

Is Cal trying to make him play down low like Randle and Towns?

Doesn't excuse thepoor rebounding, but just curious.

Zero chance Skal comes back :lol
Weak draft and he oozes potential. Even if he plays like this all year, he'll still be top 8 or so.

The frontcourts of Kentucky and Duke are super weak this year compared to their teams in the past....

Do you realize how terrible he's been? He's been outplayed by just about every big man he's gone up against. He looks like he has no clue how to play basketball. The NBA doesn't like those extreme projects like they used to...you have to at least show some skill along with that athletic potential now. Porzingis was draining threes like Dirk, Embiid was doing dream shakes and pushing the ball up the court like a point center. This dude Skal has shown nothing but being long as **** for no good reason. There's no way in hell hes a top 8 pick if he keeps playing like this all year.

Uhh there is plenty chance. He's not going late first. He could not score another point for the rest of the year still be a lottery pick. the draft is 1) based on potential. And 2) there just simply isn't 20+ players with more potential than him in this years draft.

All that other **** you mentioned is irrelevant. There aren't many players in this draft that are going to step in from day one like KAT and KP and contribute...but they're still going to have a draft obviously.

It's a hard concept for some people to grasp but the NBA draft is not solely based on your NCAA career. Especially for one and dones.

I definitely like Trier's game a lot.

Zona being forced to play without Zeus early is a blessing.

Definitely gonna be Tourney tough

You can't point to extreme examples like Porzingis, Dirk and Embiid. :lol

Bismack Biyombo just went in the lotto a few years ago. Potential still remains supreme.

Alexi Ajinca went top 20 w/ grainy film from what looked to be a Christmas basketball tournament @ a community center in France

The teams drafting will just chalk up Skal's struggles to Cal making him play out of position. He has a weak base, which can be improved. He is overwhelmed by the speed of the game right now. With that being said he is 7' and long with a jumper that few big men have.

Skal has played like complete dog **** luckily for him this draft class is complete dog ****

looking mroe and more like a #permanentpotential.

and their are questions about his real age.

still goes top 6 probabaly.

How's Brunson doing? I have only watched a few Nova games. He definitely going to be a multi-year college player?

I had/have high hopes for the kid

:rollin :rollin :rollin

I went to the game on Saturday at Barclays, definitely disappointed we lost to OSU :{ ... Couldn't stop the 3 point shot to save our lives and we have to attack the damn basket instead of settling for these ridiculous jump shots!

It's going to be a long year.

^^^^^ At least Murray put on a show :(

I really wanted to see Tai get some burn,I know he had only had one practice with the team but it probably couldn't have hurt or maybe my expectations for this kid are too high....

Murray looked great, just needed somebody else to step up with him .. Skal is killing me, might as well let him play his game right now instead of forcing him to play out of position. I'll give it a few more weeks but we really need him to get it together.

Denzel Valentine out 2-3 weeks after minor knee surgery

.  Everyone seems confident that recovery will be fine, but it sucks to lose him now.  It will be nice to see the team get some experience without him on the floor.  Probably will come in handy around tourney time.

Alex Ajinca was drafted 7 years ago when every single GM was crazy over any young foreign player that had any type of potential. Biyombo was drafted 5 years ago as an 18 year old that was 10000000x stronger, more explosive and a better rebounder and shot blocker than Skal.

Plus when you have to go by that grainy footage then if all you have to go by is stuff like that and workouts then you can better hide the guys who aren't gonna be as good as their "potential" would indicate. Skal is gonna have every one of these terrible games he's playing for a high profile college basketball team easily available for any GM or scout to see in person or on film.

if you're a GM of a struggling franchise you're really gonna risk your job on this kid?

GM's will always bet on ceiling. Gannis went 15th off of grainy footage playing aginst like sub HS level comp. Zach lavine went in the lotterey after losing his job to Bryce alford. ect ect.

Meh.

With as bad as this draft class is I guess you guys are right that it's still very possible that he goes top 10. He's looked awful outside of games against NJIT, Kentucky State and South Florida though.
