The College Basketball Post

The simple fact that he can score off the dribble and shoot jumpshots from long range at 7 feet tall makes him valuable. If he would go to college for a year he'd be a top 5 pick probably. Will he be a superstar? Who knows but teams would definitely value his versatility nonetheless.

I don't really understand how he is eligible for the NBA though. Can someone enlight
He can't actually do either of those things really, not at a level that would work in college or the NBA.

He's totally overrated as a shooter he's decent out to 18 feet maybe but shot flattens at the college 3. Long way off from being able to hit NBA 3's. And his ball handling skills is stuff that works in HS not at college or the pros. Small hands poor feel make him walking tunrocer shen he starts playing with the ball.

His best trait is his competitiveness and being a hard worker but an NBA team is going to have to improve his body, skill level and feel for the game.
All I know is he is the #5 overall prospect coming out of HS and is 7'0. The rest of the skills can be developed

Kevin Dorsey to Transfer from Minnesota

1000

Minnesota head men’s basketball coach Richard Pitino announced Monday that guard Kevin Dorsey (Waldorf, Md./Clinton Christian HS) will leave the program and seek transfer to another school.

“After discussion with Kevin and his family, we all feel that it is best for him to transfer and get closer to home,” said Pitino. “We wish Kevin nothing but the best moving forward, and will assist him in the process in any way that we can.”

Dorsey completed his freshman season last month, appearing in 26 games in a reserve role. The Maryland native averaged 18.2 minutes per game and totaled 178 points (6.8 ppg), 60 rebounds (2.3 rpg), 37 assists (1.4 apg) and 12 steals (0.5 spg) with six blocks.
Long story short: This was the kid that had the video of him and a teammate allegedly (blurry there) Eiffel Towering a girl on video come out on Twitter under his account.

The story caught national reaction and local reaction, mostly heavy criticism in both regards, and he reported the phone stolen which most scoffed at. Then the story actually was true that he told... he was at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., the biggest mall in the U.S. whats good, and there's video of him at Foot Action and his phone being stolen there by someone when he left it unattended (dunno). Didn't report it stolen then, not until after the tweet and criticism was all over the news. So they think someone posted it to get back at him, there's no word whether the girl in the video knew they were taping because the video - limited number of ppl have seen it but those who have say it was in a place that looked hidden. No word so hard to dissect that part of it at all w/o further crucifying him before the facts.

Now he's transferring, a shame because he and Jordan Murphy gave Minnesota two real good pieces to add with the big recruiting class coming next year.

He was a four-star point guard from the Baltimore/DC area and headed back there now, very heady player who knew what he was doing in Big Ten play from the outset, should be a starter by the time he's a junior depending on where he goes.

Time for him to come back home ,the Terps or Gtown could use him

**** not like I can watch all of his HS games. You guys seen him play? All I'm saying is he has potential no one said he'd be a superstar. **** if Bargani can get drafted #1 overall **** anything is possible in the damn NBA draft

He transferred to a school in canada, i've seen him play twice here.

also watched him at the Jordan international game when he was really young, and the hoop summit.

also he's not a top 5 HS prospect, more like 10-25.

on a positive note for Thon

He comes of as really smart and articulate, and a student of the game.

If he interviews like this for teams, and does well in the workouts I think he'll get into the first round.

Thon Maker is the classic kind of prospect that tricks college basketball fans who don't follow, scouting closely.

doing all these crazy moves that result in a turnover 50% of the time

but none of turnovers make it into the hoopmixtape.

While this is true...for much of his prep career...he's been considered a top 5 prospect. So while the hoopmixtapes don't show everything...he has a lot of tools that scouts love or loved. So it's understandable how some who don't follow closely still view him as a potential lottery pick.

And I don't think it would be a huge surprise to any of us if he did in fact get chosen in the mid to late first round after impressive interviews and workouts.

If Thon had stayed more of a mystery....he'd be better regarded. He's been picked apart due to overexposure.

Overexposure or that's who he actually is? That's up for debate but any who saw on Twitter his guardian is also concerned about receipts which could be a factor as well

Eh I think only very early like when he was a freshman I mean Theo Pinson was once the number 1 prospect as freshman.

I saw him at I think 14 in the jordan international game, and could never ever understand how the hoopmixtape hype built up, I'm like this isn't the same dude I saw taking terrible jumpshots that hit the back board and turning it over every other possesion?? :lol

NBA scouts didn't get a look at him until later because of age limit rules.

then the hoop summit and basketball without boarders came a long a Skal ate his lunch, then the souring began.

How they gon talk about "One shining moment", and not mention Luther bringing it to life :{. Time to retire that old washed song anyway.

This is the "One Shining Moment" of our time now :hat

they'd take wins & titles from Roy even though the infractions aren't basketball related?
No.. I don't think they would take any accomplishments away from the programs athletics.

Most people don't realize that it wasn't an athletic scandal at UNC.
