The Graphic Design Thread UPDATE: 1st post filled with info. 2nd with NTer's portfolios.

My first real graphics design I guess u can say. I'm really enjoying my classes and working with the software. Also picked up a minor in Marketing seeing how graphic design and marketing seem to blend a lot.

I've been lurking NT for years before registering on the new platform, and I've been back and forth on posting in this thread since I'm currently Pre-Graphic Design at my university. I have a portfolio due in March to get into the program, and since some of you are established designers already, what recommendations do you have/advice you could give? The criteria is 10-12 pieces of our best work from our intro design and illustration courses, and a few independent pieces we did outside of class. Here's my Behance if anyone would like to see some of what I've done so far: https://www.behance.net/Prez21J

Just wanted to follow up, I posted in this thread when it first started a couple years ago. I'm working in the field and found a great job in LA for a young company, and they pay me very well. It took me a year to find it all while working for a terrible boss at a low-paying job with no creative freedom, and it was literally just me refreshing Craigslist for half the day and sending out my resume and portfolio to anything remotely close to graphic design. I went on tons of interviews and nothing worth leaving the job at the time ($12/hr) until I found where I work now. I guess you could say it was a stroke of luck plus pure persistence that got me this gig, so don't give up, guys, I know I almost did a few times. Keep grinding.

Los Angeles advertising agency 72andSunny is looking for their Summer 2015 class for their in-house ad school, 72U.

There you will work with nine other people, expand your creative horizons, meet the people of 72andSunny, and have a boat load of fun.

@onetruesoul

good look.

I hear nothing but positive things about 72 and Sunny.

No Prob. Just trying to keep the creative community in the loop.

Good look on the postings OneTrueSoul.

Any further details about the Nike internship?

Nothing more than I posted. Basically they pay for you lodging and everything should you get a position, you'll be in one of Nike's MANY MANY MANY design positions.

Just go for it.

In fact—Just do it.

To all the Niketalk creatives that hold a European Union Passport ONLY!

Wieden+Kennedy's Amsterdam office is recruiting for the fifth class of "The Kennedys."

If you're selected, W+K Amsterdam will pay for travel, lodging, and hook you up with a minimum wage to make cool work and overdose on creativity.

You will spend time working on W+K clients (like Nike!), clients of your own, and having way too much fun.

Previous advertising experience NOT necessary.
