The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

We're going to have to see him lose at 155 if we ever want to see him fight at 145 ever again

Say he challenges woodley for the title, if Conor loses he simply jumps back down to 155. And yet even more time lost before he would ever consider taking a fight at 145

I've accepted well never see an Aldo rematch unfortunately

Aldo or someone at 145 needs to literally kill someone to have a prayer at getting conor to come back

After seeing this Eddie fight I'm not sure if I even wanna see Aldo 2. And I'm a huge fan, but he's gonna get lit up. I don't think his chin will hold up to too many lefts, and he's gotta fight the most disciplined fight ever to overcome the reach disadvantage.
the fight with eddie doesnt tell us anything

all it tells us is that eddie rushed in carelessly too

It's moreso that Eddie just provides more evidence that Conor's left hand is ridiculous. Between dropping Aldo with one punch, dropping Nate Diaz multiple times in the second fight, and then dropping Eddie so easily, I can't front on how dangerous he is with that thing.

Aldo has to fight an incredibly technically sound fight to overcome a dude with that kind of power, and also that throws that left with that kind of speed and accuracy, and on top of that has a real nice height and reach advantage on him. It's a really tough matchup for him.

See this is what I was referring to

Not saying you have to give Conor the crown but sheesh lol. Man tough man to please
yall are taking that post the wrong way

i referenced a quote that tried to point out that eddies fight tells us something about a 2nd aldo fight, why arent you guys including that quote?

it doesnt, both aldo and eddie carelessly rushing in tells us nothing about a 2nd aldo fight

im not trying to take anything a way from conor

here's the whole thing in case you had a mild stroke and skipped the first quote

I don't even wanna see Conor fight @ 145 anymore.

I really don't wanna see him fight anyone smaller than him anymore, either, I've seen enough.

Son has the touch of death in his left hand and they can't handle it.

Bring on Tony Ferguson and Khabib, pls.

Yeah I'm good with never seeing conor at 145 again... he gains nothing from fighting aldo again.

I agree refs let some fights go to long.. but then I saw ppl saying they stopped conor fight too soon.. can't win

eddie was getting dropped and conor was never in danger. i get letting him go a little longer since his title was on the line, but still.
conor making eddie look like "just" another fighter

screw that, if he wants to walk around with the belt, he needs to defend it

unless people are advocating the continuation of this sham

He does gain actually having a title defense. aldo already lost his mind not having the rematch happen. He better move to 155 and try to chase him. If khabib get the shot please have the fight in Russia. Would be so lit.

They need to figure out how to have a fight in croke park

I could see that being Conor's return fight early 2017 if they can convince the local officials to let them host

Aldo better move to 155 if Conor vacates his fw title after all that crying. And this is coming from an Aldo fan.

I just wanna see Conor fight at 155. I think he's a tad bit small at 170 to hang with the top dogs. Don't want to see him waste his potential with exhibition matches while there are so many intriguing fights at 55.

I'm not saying he doesn't need to defend it, I'm saying I don't care to see it.

He's fought smaller guys 7x in the UFC, all 7 have been KO'd inside 2 rounds.

That's pretty telling.

The only guys he hasn't manhandled were Max and Nate who are both either bigger or taller than him.

I don't think that's a coincidence but who knows.

I'd much rather see him fight Tony Ferguson or Khabib over anybody @ 145.

why does he need to move up?

he wasnt calling for rematch recently, he was calling for the real 145 belt to go back into play, be it against conor or whoever

i just read that Eddie alvarez link someone posted. The irony that he actually said this :
""I hate when guys who are from a BJJ background and a good wrestling background abandon their whole base and their whole fundamental because a lot of guys around them are telling them that they're really good strikers. "

that 4-piece combo was so legendary. i've re-watched it at least 20 times. conor's ability to gauge distance and time his shots is unreal. slipped that shot from eddie by inches.
sick.gif

it just perplexes me how few MMA fighters can throw a straight punch with KO power. i don't think i can name 5 guys in MMA with a legit signature KO straight shot. simple boxing principles are conor's greatest strengths.
