Unfortunately it was just a story of Jan being bigger. They didn't really land on each other or have many memorable moments

Also their personalities and backgrounds made for a very blah buildup, hard sell tbh without having two belts on the line

Plus the second kick boxing match, Alex was saved by the ref with the standing 8 count. He honestly should have been slept in that fight

I really hope they fight one final time too. I don't need to see it anytime soon though tbh. This was an exhausting and almost tired matchup

It would serve both of them to take a break from each other

Izzy can fight du Plessis and it would be a good storyline with the African slant. Or they can skip to Chimaev and have a more than sellable fight

Alex can rest and recover because that loss was brutal. Let him take a fight with Whittaker, Vetorri or Costa when he comes back

Alex really didn’t have a lot of respect for Izzy’s power which is insane given Izzy’s body of work.

Both men looked sharp in the 1st but Pereira seemed to get his reads ans range much quicker than Izzy,.I am surprised all 3 judges gave that to Izzy. He was popping him with his straight but would've thought those leg kicks were the bigger blows.

You can tell Izzy wanted to do so much more but Pereira was just shutting it down. But when Izzy was standing his ground in the pocket to fire off the 3 piece each time, **** started cooking.

Much better angle of the finish. Man rolled with the knee, took a small step to the right for that angle and unloaded with a 1-2. **** was perfect. Alex has a hell of a chin though, legs didn't even go out after that, it was the 2nd straight on the temple then the hook on the way down to put him to sleep.

Woah that’s kind of wild I thought Alex clearly won the first. Feels like we may have seen some bs judging if there wasn’t a finish.

You can tell Leon really really wanted that fight

I want to see khamzat fight for the belt as much as anyone, but he hasn’t even beat a ranked guy at 185. Dricus is the only guy next up I would assume since Izzy already beat costa, cannonier, and Whittaker/vettori twice.

Chimaev doesn’t need to have any wins at 185 to get a title shot- Dana can easily make it happen and nobody should be surprised

Especially since the options are so minimal

Just watched the finishing sequence as broken down on Izzy's IG story

Absolute elite hand placement and instinct or strategy whatever you want to call it

He sees Alex loading up and slows up the left hook at the exact moment, swings over top with right, then as Alex is swinging his head back around to swing- Izzy puts left hand up to distract while the right comes over top a second time

Got damb- in slow motion it's absolute art

Alex being at his absolute best too makes the moment and fight that much more impressive for Izzy

He doesn't but then getting awarded a title shot after your last fight you missed weight so horribly just doesn't sit right with me. But this is the ufc where they make **** up as they go so I wouldn't be surprised.

Just rewatched the fight. Izzy's boxing this fight was at the best ive seen for him. People saying lucky punch have lost their minds. He was literally doing it the whole fight. He had a sick one two to the body also. The sheer level of difficulty and the fact he was able to hit Alex clean many times throughout the fight. My man had laser beams for eyes.

Ehhh that seems doubtful. Need to see last night's numbers but Izzy would need to double his highest ppv buys (Jan) to get into the area you're talking about. He'd need a bigger name opponent to do that. Alex is a great fighter but he's so new in ufc that the casual barely knows who he is.

I can’t argue the merit or any of that- it’s absolutely correct

Because du plessis isn’t intriguing to me (outside of him being African) I don’t mind chimaev sliding in. There legitimately aren’t any other options
