The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I'm not gonna hold my breath for that one.  How many times has that fight been rescheduled now?

It was linked to three different cards.

Arthur Jones, Jon's brother, who plays for the Ravens, Tweeted about this fight/date a month ago and it turned out he was right.

Looking at the pic Dana posted of Silva's leg I have a question. Why did they open him up by his knee?

And I can't really be mad at Jones for his fight getting rescheduled all of the time. He's probably trying to get fully healthy. He's been injured or banged up in all of his last fights. Messed his elbow up against Belfort, messed up his toe against Sonnen, and got beat up against Gus and he claimed his toe wasn't at full strength then.

Maybe had to work on some ligaments or something.  Have no idea.  Pulling for the guy though.

I ain't mad at Jones either.  Showed a lot of heart in his fight against Gus.  I'd only want to see the best Jones fight the best Teixeira.  Should make for an interesting fight, but I don't see Teixeira getting past Jones' reach and movement.

Because the doctors inserted a rod that acts as a brace for his leg. It is screwed on two parts, one near his knee and another past the broken part, closer to his foot. Once the broken bone is healed they will remove the rod.

It is interesting that nobody wants to fight khabib. Give him diego sanchez or nate diaz, if not then they will have to settle for a lower ranked guy. That is if they really want to push for him to fight as scheduled.

Maybe because the top contenders have nothing to gain and a lot to lose against him.

@tiger energy  according to Dana, they offered Nate Diaz the fight against Khabib but Nate turned it down. Nate's saying that Dana is full of crap but who knows. I think a lot of top guys don't wanna fight him because he's a dangerous match up.

Yeah that's what I figured. It would have been exciting matches. Why can't they just fight for the sake of fighting.

I would almost guarantee Diaz and Khabib square off. Dana knew what he was doing when he said Nate turned down the fight

@danawhite @ufc are full of **** I didn’t turn down anything …

@NateDiaz209 @danawhite @ufc @arielhelwani If you not scared, let's fight!!

-Khabib

Diaz should take that fight.  Gil has potential title aspirations, but Nate is a bit far away from that right now.  Might as well fight the guy and stay relevant.

Nate is comedy.

Terrible match for him though. It would probably play out like the Rory fight.

Yeah really, a smothering grappler is Nate's bane.  Benson Henderson and Rory are two examples.

But his interviews are really entertaining.  Just as good as the fights.  Damn, when is Nick going to fight again?  MMA needs that guy.

Nate is still as relevant as anyone in the lightweight division. He doesn't need to fight Khabib to stay relevant.

Maybe relevant is the wrong word.

Rankings don't always mean much, but look at the guys above him.  He's already lost to Benson and Thomson.  He won't fight Gil.

Khabib is ranked below him and I'd rather see Diaz fight Khabib than Dos Anjos vs. Khabib.

Dos Anjos is fighting Rustam

Diaz has a few options: Khabib, Johnson (who was calling for a fight), Bobby Green, possibly even TJ Grant who's been injured

I don't pay much attention like I used to in mma. I don't even know who this khabib guy is.

Khabib is making moves in the lightweight division.  Probably not many gave him a chance against Healy and he made Healy look average.

But about the options for Diaz, none of those guys really helps Diaz that much, except for maybe Grant.  Khabib would be next I guess.

I'd like to see all of those fights though, especially Johnson.  But Diaz would be doing those guys a favor.  I guess beating one of them makes his case stronger too at the same time.

From what Diaz's manager said in an interview they're not afraid of fighting Khabib but they turned down the fight. They asked UFC for a new contract and they said no, not after just 1 win in a row. So in return Diaz's team turned down the fight. And according to them, its probably wise for Nate to sit around and wait for a title shot against Pettis.

Love how Nate's camp is doing their best to make the MMA community forget about the Thomson loss.

They are right though, the Diaz name sells and Pettis/Diaz is probably the most marketable fight in that division. Pay the man.

He's 1-2 in his last 3 fights. Or they could just say he's 1-0 in his last fight and he should get the next title fight.

Browne/Verdum and Tate/Carmouche booked for a FOX card in April.

Main Event still to come.

Nate needs to get a new contract, he deserves one but he also is two wins away from a title shot.

Glad Browne/Werdum got scheduled. Hope Browne continues to evolve and dominates Werdum setting up a great match with Cain.

Didn't GSP ask for Diaz after he beat Condit?  Diaz lost to Condit previous to that, yet still got a title shot.

The same could plausibly happen between Diaz and Pettis.  The way he lost to Thomson was much more convincing than the way Nick lost to Condit though.  Still, there's been some entertaining trash talk between the two.
