The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Bendo disappointing the hell out of me :{ He lost his heart

I think he needs to finish to win here.

I did too.

Vegas told the story though, Thomson was 7 to 1 to win the fight heading to the 5th round. Crazy. Benson did nothing

I had that 3-2 Thomson. But my scoring system is clearly useless whenever Benson Henderson is fighting.

Valiant effort from Thomson with that hand, though. Too bad he didn't get rewarded for it.

MMA judging... :{

I stopped paying attention to the main event after they said Thomson broke his hand. Difficult for me to pay attention to a henderson fight. Zoned out during the gonzaga fight also. Been losing a lot of interest in mma.

I had Benson winning. His striking was better. Especially the elbows while falling into a clinch.

I also had benson winning although very close, I guess I am in the minority.

But I don't get that 49-46.

Sounds like Thomson is gonna retire. Maybe its because he just lost a close fight but he's talking about how it was a good ride but it maybe over now and how he'd like to do tv work ok Fox.

Main event was pretty much a draw.... again :lol

Swear i always get the impression that Josh is just chilling. He's super talented but his body language in the cage suggests he doesn't really give a ****. Wouldn't be surprised if he hangs them up and tries to get a spot on the panel. Sons jaw is made for T.V.

Overall a pretty underwhelming card.

I don't think he chills, he might just not have that extra gear. Plus he had a broken hand after the 2nd round. He's been fighting for a long time now so I could see him retiring. Although with the result of the fight, Dana could easily put him against another top 10 guy and things could fall into place (like injuries to other contenders and Thomson putting on a show) for a title shot. Thomson was really emotional as well, so it could go either way since he was apparently contemplating retirement win or lose.

I don't think Bendo is going to sell many more PPV's. Dude's style is just not pleasing. I've defended Bendo at times previously in his career against people who say he fights safe or point fights, but these days I don't even know if he's fighting safe so much as if that's just how he operates. Dana said last night that he's a grinder, and that's just what he does. I have always called him the lightweight GSP, it's funny because I heard that referenced by the Fox crew leading into the card. It's sad to say but I have pretty much lost my fondness of Bendo. I hope he changes it up back to his WEC days because people are not going to want to watch 15-25 minutes of clinch work every time he comes into the cage.

it's time to give him a top 10 opponent again. So many possibilities, I'd even vouch for a rematch with Nate, since it's been 2 years.

That dude that fought cerrone was doo doo. No lie i was clownin both their movement right before that kick. Even my girl goes "why does he keep puttin his hands down"

Me: "hes trying to protect his ribs but hes about ..."

Booom

Lol we both jus laughed n she called him a noob
Come on, man. 25 wins. Only been finished once previously. Subbed Cruickshank.

Disrespectful. His wife sacrificed a lot for his MMA career. He's attached to his hometown despite some MMA success.

Anyway.

Cowboy wasn't kidding. He fights better his own way. Drinking beer, riding bulls, wake boarding. Must be awkward pre-fight seeing Palmer before you spill your guts in the Octagon. Money truly was motivation for Cerrone. Spent it all and now he's fighting like a mad man. Actively seeking finishes, landing flush shots. Not the timid version against Pettis.

Cerrone did look great. Showed up to the post fight presser with a Budweiser, prob not his first of the night either. :lol

Don't like that Khabib fight for him though...

Nothing to lose for Cowboy. Closest chance to a title shot he's receiving since the Pettis loss.

Beers and adventure sports. Cerrone living the life.

If they match Khabib and Cowboy then they should just give Gilbert an automatic shot at Pettis otherwise it would really muddy the ladder. Plus, with a win, RDA arguably would be next in line himself. Unfortunately for him he just isn't really marketable and doesn't have any wow factor to him. Nate Diaz also still doesn't have a dance partner.

man i follow about 3 UFC fighters... im jus going off what i saw... dude had god awful stand up/boxing... no kicks. He was circlin right with his hands down the entire time after he ate the first shot to the ribcage. Less than zero head movement. Lucky his head aint roll off his shoulders haha

Cowboys wants 6 fights in 2014.

I'm only sensitive and defensive because of Martins' story. I respect fighters loyal to their community, family, upbringing (values). Success seemingly hasn't changed Martins like Bones for example.

What he displayed was about the average for a UFC lightweight coming from a grappling background.

Generally speaking you'll only have a handful of guys per division who are slick with their hands and feet.

Nate Diaz went off on Bendo, Thomson and Pettis

I agree with the spirit of what he was rambling about though. I don't care that Bendo won, nobody wants to watch that sort of "fight". I hope Dana agrees and makes Bendo wait a few fights to get another title shot.

Sorry for the language!
