THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 3-6 Next Game 11/18 vs. Texans Monday Night Football

Hardy may get suspended for a few games but we need him badly, like we have absolutely no pass rush at all.

Cowboys still on the board:

Tyler Clutts FB - With Collins & Agnew signed... Doubt he's back.
Tony Hills T - No need to bring him back. But could get a Training Camp Invite
George Selvie DE
Anthony Spencer DE
Nick Hayden DT
Rolando McClain MLB
James Anderson LB / ST - Gachkar & Brinkley makes him irrelevant
Sterling Moore DB
C.J. Spillman S

What I'd do..

Re-sign Rolando McClain.. Absolutely imperative we do this.
Sign Greg Hardy... Take the risk. He's good at the pass rush, and still young, even if he's a scumbag, the 90s Cowboys had a ton of those.

Re-Sign Nick Hayden.. Solid depth at DT.
Re-Sign George Selvie or Anthony Spencer whoever is cheaper,
Re-Sign C.J. Spillman... I'd love Sterling Moore back, but he's probably going to be too expensive.
Sig a cheap WR with some KR/PR ability... The overpay of Harris by the Giants still makes me laugh.

I'd like someone like C.J. Mosley at DT, but I don't think they really make a move for anybody important on the DLine unless they slip throw the cracks and are cheap like Melton, McClain & Mincey in 2014.

In the draft
Round 1 - Running Back (Gordon, Gurley) *I'd even trade to move up if need be, we have a ton of compensatory picks headed our way in 2016.
Round 2 - Defensive Tackle
Round 3 - 5 Best Player Available on Defense (Preferably an OLB, Defensive Back, Defensive End).
Round 6 & 7 - Best Player Available

The DLine would look decent..
Starting Defensive End - Greg Hardy (after suspension, I've read 1-2 games, but as many as 4), DeMarcus Lawrence
Backup Defensive End - Jeremy Mincey, George Selvie or Anthony Spencer
Starting Defensive Tackle - Tyronne Crawford, 2nd Round Draft Pick
Bakup Defensive Tackles - Jack Crawford, Nick Hayden

Unless one of these RBs is expected to be the next Emmitt Smith, I wouldn't even go RB in the first round. I would take one in the second or third round.

I would take the best DL available in the first round. This team needs a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball badly.

IMO if Gurley is gone then wait till the 2nd around and take best defense player left on the board in the 1st.

in the 2nd you can still get one of the good RB's

What I've heard re: Cowboys/Hardy... Security Dept/Coaches/FO going thru due dil process. SJ & Rosenhaus have spoken but not sure about #s

:{ at the disrespect Demarco got at the UFC event last night.
I don't know what Murray expected rolling up to a major sporting event in Dallas, after defecting to a hated division rival. He gave the Cowboys two strong seasons ultimately. It's not like he brought a championship to the city like Emmitt or Aikman.

In negotiations with Greg Hardy
That would be scary for me. I hear Dallas and Seattle are pretty close in the Hardy race, and I sure hope it's the latter. "Kraken" can play and get after the QB, I don't want him in the division chasing whoever plays QB for Philly.

With the looming legal issue (DV case) and imminent 6-game suspension, Hardy can't be getting anything more than a 2-year contract. Maximum 3-year deal, incentive laden.

Unless one of these RBs is expected to be the next Emmitt Smith, I wouldn't even go RB in the first round.
Todd Gurley's ceiling would place him as the best back in this year's class or last. You enhance his value in Dallas behind your top-notch OL. Wouldn't even miss Murray with a healthy and motivated Gurley in town. Big drop-off between him and Gordon, IMO.

Easily committed to signing Greg Hardy, but yea, signing Dez Bryant to a big contract is "risky"...:rolleyes

Sign greg hardy....
Then draft running back in first round.
Then use the rest of the draft for d. I'd be content with that.

^ ^ Either Todd Gurley or Melvin Gordon, then go all defense the rest of the draft.

The Dez thing is simply posturing, im pretty sure they'll come to an agreement by July.

Yea, I think they are just focused on what they can do with cap for all the other gaps we have before we get the Dez deal done.

@AdamSchefter: For now, forget about Seattle and Tampa being involved. Dallas is undisputed favorite to land free-agent DE Greg Hardy.

RT @toddarcher: Greg Hardy scheduled to have dinner with some Cowboys coaches tonight after spending part of day at Valley Ranch.

Person close to #GregHardy / #Cowboys talks tells @1053thefan 'things going extremely well.'

Get Hardy. Draft an RB. Defense rounds 2-5. BPA after that. Resign Dez, and we'll be alright.

First time I've been excited about Cowboys news all offseason.

Let's get this done Stephen !!

Lose McClain and a position of strength instantly becomes a weakness and has no depth. Again.

Plus you can never count on Sean lee to play 16. So we need dude back even more.

Yeah, definitely can't forget about McLain, have to resign him. Don't and when Lee inevitably goes down were left W/ Hitchens being our only LB we know for sure we can rely on atm :{.

Although, next to offensive line, this team has shown that the position group that they are probably best at coaching up/finding players for is LB, maybe we'll find another hidden gem like Hitchens or McClain last year.
