THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 4-7 Next Game 11/28 vs. Giants Vol. Thanksgiving

yeah Champ is a good dude, i've had a lot of good conversations with him which I actually enjoy

Thoughts about the game and the TW question:

TW (Terrance Williams) is a boss, our WR core is the best i've seen in I cant remember honestly

Martin is a good pick, just not a fan of taking Guards in the first round

OL looks amazing, very excited about that for years to come

Randle looks much better, he's taking the offseason program seriously and its showing on the field

Weeden looked good, behind a good line and running game he could actually help us compete if Romo goes down

Defense looked absolutely terrible, but we were missing basically the entire first team so its tough to tell what we have yet, still not expecting much

Hitchins looks like another terrible 4th round pick, dude is slow slow slow and they have him playing WILL which is a position you need speed at, terrible draft pick, so many other players could help us now that we passed on

Dixon should make thet team as a SS/Nickel hybrid LB, dude hits and he's pretty quick, just not a cover guy but he would be really good at LB, I would ask him to gain some weight and see if he could play WILL

chiacrack chiacrack bro you gotta remember that some picks are special teamers.
You can't have scrubs on your special teams.
It's gotta be a mixture of tweeners and ballers.
A guy like Hitchens can be a special teams pro bowler.
He's disciplined which means he will stay in his lanes, and he likes to hit which can cause turnovers on kickoffs and punts.

Only reason this team was competitive last season was because of how good they were at forcing turnovers. Will have to do it again this year.

didnt we get a majority of our takeaways in one game against Eli, and the first 3 games of the season? I dont remember us doing ish on defense at all.

Someone correct me if i am wrong.

soooooooo in the 4th round you're drafting for special teams?

come on man you're better than that, you know football, in the 4th you should be getting guys who can contribute, especially on a team that is desperate for depth, you cant hit on every pick but Dallas consistently blows picks away, teams like Seattle that is how they get depth, drafting well after the first round

remember the 2009 draft? They drafted that entire draft for special teams and BS like that, look where it got them

Hitchens was a terrible pick, it was on draft day and it is today, this team needed guys who could play football on defense and quality athletes

Quit comparing this year to that year.
Different breed of coaches and scouts.
And if I remember correctly we won the division in '09 and won a playoff game.

Soooooooo, what round do you draft guys that can make an impact with their special teams play?

5th on down but you don't Draft a guy with special teams in mind unless he's a 7th round kicker or a mid round return man other than that you draft for your scheme and you teach the bottom roster guys to be special team demons until you think they are ready to contribute on offense and defense

And we don't know what Anthony Hitchens will be as the year progresses.
Dude called him a bust after one preseason game.

Dude had two tackles for a loss was hitting hard I don't think he'll be Ray Lewis but it's a bit early to call him a bust

you know who looks great is Cooks, wow, perfect for that Saints offense

I said the day we drafted Hitchins it was a poor pick, I stand behind that. If you're drafting in the 4th round for ST that is a problem. They had a boatload of 7th round picks, use those for ST. Rounds 1-5 need to be players who contribute in base packages or have a unique role on offense/defense. The only silver lining to Hitchins is that he is from Iowa, a system that has a great coach that teaches fundamentals. But physically he isn't that much of a special package, for him to productive it will have to be off of smarts and football IQ.

Look at the players who went after Hitchins, a lot of football players who could've helped this team.

I hope the kid shuts me up, but if I had my GM hat on I would not have drafted him until the 6th round, which was the grade (5th-6th) he got on most draft guides.

I'm still taking West, Landry, Moncrief, or Hill for Offensive ROY.

Don't sleep on Toon and Coleman on New Orleans' turf. Payton and Brees make magic.

I'm not sure why this team likes undersized Mike's but that's why they drafted the kid to be Lee's understudy they knew Lee would miss time just didn't think it would be so early

Also there is rumblings that McClain is going to retire again smh...

I got a warning last season for a post I made about the Saints, so I'll tone this one down.
No one cares about how "good" the Saints will be.
I'm hoping they go 0-16.

Good feet for a back his size, underrated pass-catcher.

DROY?
yeah I like him a lot, think he will be more productive than Tate too IMO

DROY now that is a good one

Clowney has a great chance to take that next to Watt, I think if Mack is used the right way he could have a double digit sack season, I really think Mosley and Jernigan are going to have great seasons with the Ravens and could be contenders for that award as well

My heart says Verrett or Denard. Also think Donald will be in contention, along with Barr because of how Zim will maximize his strengths.

forgot to include Barr, I think he's another one who could thrive this year right away

Donald I love but not sure he will have eye popping numbers right away

loved Verrett's skill set, Dennard also has a chance to have a good rookie season

I always say, if Verrett was 2 inches taller, he'd be first corner off the board. He's feisty and unafraid to tackle.
