THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

Welp.

It's about time to

EqcaAHk.gif

on this season.

This team is not good enough to not do the little things and expect to win and compete for a Super Bowl. For example, in the INT return for a TD, Dez was arguing instead of chasing down the play to make a tackle. Garrett needs to get in players face for not hustling, no matter who they are.

I guess it's onto next year.

You know he needs Jerry's permission.

No definitive answer yet... But they think it's a small fracture in the clavicle for Romo.

Season's done.. At least we didn't get into the December with the season still on the line.

What we have left..

@Washington
Packers
Jets
Bills
Washington

Maybe we squeak out 1 win versus Washington.. But don't see us beating the Packers.. Don't think we can come remotely close against the Jets defense to put up points, even if our defense holds. Bills likely score well against us...

So 4-12. That was Tied for 5th worst record last year.

1. Let Romo get healthy..
2. Cut Brandon Carr. Salary is too much for what he provides even if he has been much better. It's only $7.4mil of dead cap if we cut him, but we save $6.38mil if we cut him regardless of pre or post June 1st.
3. Make Ron Leary a RFA. If no big offers for him keep him. If he gets an offer, let him go, and get the compensation pick.
4. Jeff Heath same thing for RFA. He's a quality backup.
5. Re-sign Lance Dunbar. He's a quality 2nd RB and pass catching back.
6. Re-sign Rolando McClain.. Doubt his market is any good again, made another mistake that cost him 4 games.
7. Greg Hardy.. If he becomes a social pariah in FA, he's too good to not sign long term for far under market value. If he gets offered the money he is worth (as a football player), have to let him go.
8. Letting Carr go, means that you can re-sign Mo Claiborne who even though he was injured, had a good season. Would play great as a 3rd DB.
9. Mincey, Bernadeau, Hayden & Wilbur all depends on if they get no offers, and how we're looking going into or out of the draft.

What we need...
QB - We need to draft someone to take over for Romo.. Doesn't have to be a guy ready now...Doesn't even need to be early in the draft. Do the due diligence, look for the "it" guy. Just someone we're high on. Let him learn the ropes under Romo for a couple years.

RB - We need a # 1 RB. I really like Dunbar & McFadden as backups. This IS the biggest need out of everything. While they were not bad piecing it together. The problem is that there was nothing good enough to make defense change their game plan, and open things up for us on offense.

WR- I'm indifferent about, do not think we actually need anybody here.. I just believe that if you get the run game working, it takes pressure off Romo, and opens up the field for Dez & TWill.. But as always, if there is somebody who slips, or in the late rounds you pick them up.

TE & OLine is relatively fine... Not as good as they were last year, but still think they are good going forward, just need to have the right guys to block for. I.e. Guys who can make plays.

Defense - Through 11 weeks, we are actually a yard per game from 8th best total defense in the league. Ignoring the Panthers game, even though 14 of the points are not even on the defense, they are right in the middle of the league for PPG. This season has been a huge problem due to lack of ability to put the ball in the end zone, and extend drives. Not the defense.

HOWEVER, the pass rush needs work. And may not even be the guys on the field's fault. We continuously run 4 man rushes when that keeps getting broken down. It also gasses the guys rushing the passer if our offense can't stay out there.

DE- If Hardy is back, and I think it's a good possibility, just based on what I think the market ends up for Hardy, and I think he would even take a little less money to stay here than to go to say TB just because 1. He likes the spotlight.. and 2. He knows he gets away with far more **** than he does anywhere else. That probably will sit in the back of his mind.

If no Hardy, not a huge need because of Gregory & Lawrence. Would still like one more guy behind those two to rotate in, if Hardy is gone. But I think you can actually dumpster dive and find that guy, as opposed to drafting it.

DT - More important than DE in my opinion under either Hardy scenario. Apparently Crawford has played injured all season, and has impacted his effectiveness. Who knows whether that is true, or how much it has actually made a difference. Would like to get someone who is pass rush oriented to help TCraw get pressure up the middle.

LB core - Really need just backup guys. Don't need to put it high on the draft needs. Hitchens - McClain - Lee if all on the field is very versatile.. Biggest thing is IF all on the field.

DB - Need a # 2 DB. Scandrick was a huge hit to us. I think Claiborne is good enough and has shown enough improvement to be a really good #3 on depth DB.
Move Byron Jones into a Safety Slot over the TEs because he's a damn monster on that.

Safety - Byron and bring back either Church or Wilcox. Don't care for either, but would be fine opposite of Byron with Heath as backup.

KR / PR - You either let Lucky Whithead try to be a KR/PR or you draft one. Because Cole Beasley being out there was horrendous, and think it's a decent contributor to our lack of offense. Because time after time he couldn't get the PR anywhere, and was sticking us inside the 20 to start drives.

RB, DB, QB, DT... Those are 4 things WE MUST draft. Can't get around it.

nice list, I think the Cowboys need to let Witten go also. It's about time for the Cowboys to do what the rest of the NFL does and get a Tight end that can stretch the defense. Move Witten to full back

Every time I see Bennet flourish I think wow we had him.

We played scared on offense.
3rd and 3 down 20pts, instead of throwing it up to Dez in the endzone we throw a tight end screen behind the line of scrimmage to Gavin Escobar.
Then on defense it's 3rd and 17 with a little over 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and can someone please tell me why we blitzed two DBS from the same side, and left Sean Lee to cover the slot receiver??????

Mo needs to go. But i agree with much of the rest essential.
Our 4 man rush kills me. Its half decent when scandrick blitzes randomly tho....
Altho Dez made a questionable decision an arguing instead of goin after the play...but you gotta see how the media tries to tear him apart. Name another instants where a player is called out on slacking on an interception?

Dallas Nation. Just woke up and saw all the extra curricular stuff Dez did and didn't do during the game.

Does he get another pass for not attempting to tackle player during INT and instead was complaining and jawing? I can't wait till his Clown A@$& is gone.

His routes are garbage and he isn't worth all the drama.

Doesn't happen that much cause most players try to make the tackle..... The reason why Dez is getting the spotlight is mainly because of his past poor choices he keeps making

So yall saying we get rid of arguably the best WR in the league?!? Dez and Hardy are the only ones that act like they give a damn...

These are the type of Cowboys fans I can't get with :{ :lol ... Dez shouldn't even be on the field, the fact that he did everything possible to recover from that injury in such a short time frame shows me more than enough.

It's been a rough season for us all around, emotions/frustraions are running high, especially since we had a chance at finally making a run this year.

Now Dez can't run routes? So what about when he beat Luke on the sideline and Romo basically throws the ball out of bounds, that wouldve been a TD. Or how about when Dez beat their secondary up the middle in the 2nd quarter and Romo over throws him? Those two plays connect and we wouldn't even be discussion Dez today. Outside of the locker room blow up, what drama has he caused this season? I guess we should bring Roy Williams back :lol

Bravo....

You need to be a beat writer for the Cowboys...

I would love if the boys got their hands on Vernon Hargreaves, Joey Bosa, Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack or Deforest Buckner. Hackenberg in Rd. 2 or go later for a QB (do not want any part of Manziel or Crapernick)

Doesn't matter. The 'Red-headed Genius' won't give him any playing time.

Watch Escobar flourish once he leaves Dallas.

Witten is like Emmitt Smith, you can't just bench him, especially for Escobar. What has Escobar shown. People act like Martellus Bennett became Anotonio Gates when he left Dallas. He was awful and was awful with the Bears as well.

i like the write up

with WR i don't put it under HUGE need, but after dez do we really have anyone? Twill was MIA when dez got hurt and he really only runs 2 kinds of routes and is soft as ****. dude should be the kind of WR beasley is for us and all williams wants to do is run fade routes or run near the side lines.

i disagree with you a lot about the defense, DB needs a HUGE upgrade moving jones to FS? covers up a need but open back a hole a CB. not to mention church and Wilcox suck at safety if MO wants to come back for cheap to be a 3rd CB then fine but other then that kick rocks homie.

on LB i know lee is a fan favorite and a leader of the defense but if everyone is ready to get rid of written then the same should be said for lee who can't stay heathy and on the god damn field. if you can upgrade the LB spot with a LB you go for it. McClain has been MIA all year man

if we don't sign or draft a DT in the offseason its going to be a waste of time even watching the defense next year so agree with you there. a major part missing about this defense is lack of a pass rush all year.

If this isn't the indication that winning the title won't happen with Romo then I don't know what is. The division winner will probably go 7-9 or 8-8 and them not getting there bums me out so much. For last 20 years that's how many wins they average per season and of all seasons to do what they do they can't even get there. Feel bad for #9. He's a great player and will never get the proper shine.

I don't see a Romo, Dez, and Witten offensively led team winning the whole thing ever. Romo/Witten cant do it physically anymore and Dez is a mental case. It's time for a new era offensively. Would love to see a New QB and Tight end soon and see another WR that can take some off the pressure off of Dez
