THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

Show them to me
He’s Top 5 in every statistical measure with regards to air yards, depth of targets, yards per completion, completion % on downfield throws even with all the drops.

His rate of bad throws is low. His on-target rate is tops in the league.

The common denominator across a decade of two quality NFL quarterbacks is the loser head coach and his loser mentality with regards to scheme, play calling and passivity.

This **** ain’t rocket science. It’s a coaching issue.

the reality of the Dak situation is he turned down $30M a year cause his Agent has the ability to talk to other teams, guaranteed that he can get a hell of a lot more as a Free Agent.

Dak is going to get paid no matter who does it. What If Jerry don’t pay him and he walks? Next step is going to be to draft a QB or sign a budget back up:rofl:

Y’all act like Dallas has the leverage when it comes to Dak. They had all the Leverage with Zeke’s contract and they caved in and let Zeke and his agent dictate all the terms.

We screwed whether they Pay Dak or not!

Gotta pay him and make it work. He’s not perfect but you don’t have a choice really.

What’s the alternative? Teddy Bridgewater? Hope Tua or Justin Herbert drop to mid-1? Good ****in luck.

If we Franchise Tag him he doesn’t have a choice

Dude wouldn’t hold out

You can’t franchise 2 players. So you let Cooper walk?
Or you give Cooper a deal?

If you let Coop walk, take 2 steps back. Give him a deal, and franchise Dak, he probably won’t hold out, but he sure as hell will take a stronger look at Free Agency. Therefore upping the price, and one year later at that.

Dak is going to get paid regardless of staying or going, stop prolonging it and just pay the guy and try to win a Super Bowl.

The alternatives are awful, and if you go those routes, might as well start trading everybody like the Dolphins and start over.

The smart play is give Dak 5 year / $150mil. Cooper 5 year / $81mil (what Hopkins got at age 25). Dak gets $100mil guaranteed. Cooper gets about $50mil guaranteed. What it sets up is a 3 year run of Dak-Zeke-Cooper. After those 3 years, you can get out of the contracts without too much ramifications. The alternative is basically wasting everyone’s time trying to find a new WR1. Or trying to get a weak fix at QB who would waste years on Cooper or Zeke anyway.

Revamp the entire coaching staff. I’d give Kellen one more try with a more aggressive coach and that’s it. Revamp most of the defense (need about 6 new starters), and revamp Special Teams

Team is 2nd in the league in drops. Even having an admittedly MEH game from Dak. At the very least there’s a Cooper drop hit his hands and then his chest that ended a drive. Witten hit his hands wide open ended a drive. Gallup dropped a perfect deep pass.
I thought getting rid of Dez was going to cure the dropped passes problem?

Are people still on that?

He got released and was never heard from again other than popping off into the wind on Twitter.
It's relevant today because the team that released him is second in dropped passes and on the verge of missing the playoffs
The team has no fire and no fight and that's what Dez was for this team
He actually made a bad move by not going to Baltimore

Team with Dez and his fire/fight was still trash and the results were basically the same.

All that gas meant a grand total of nothing.

Dak is gonna get paid.. and he deserves it... but he’s just as much to blame yesterday as everyone else...

Firstly he missed two open TD throws on that last drive..

Zeke was WIDE OPEN for the check down which woulda got us a first on that final drive... instead Dak throws a deeper more difficult pass...

earlier Gallop was wide open on a crossing route with YAC opportunity, Dak refused to take the easy yards and instead threw a deeper more difficult throw that was a drive killer....

i sound like a broken record but we ain’t winning with Dak throwing 40+ times man...

Running game wasn’t working but we ain’t throw a swing pass or check down to the rb til the fourth quarter...

-Drops sucked..
-Coop looked disinterested...
-Oline got spanked...
-Dline undisciplined and can’t get pass rush...
-LBs played another HORRIBLE game...(dude we signed off the street this week played an awful lot)
-JG is passive and shoulda went for it...
-Dak was off and apparently injured but still threw forty sumn times...

This team ain’t got a clue man top to bottom... from Dak to Cheeto everybody stunk it up yesterday...

Dez was trying to bring the fire out of Dak and the younger guys
Garrett guys were telling the young guys not to follow Dez
Now we have a team full of lukewarm superstars

Dak reminds me of the old basketball saying “you can’t make a fifteen point shot”...

You gotta take the layup’s and free throws man... everything can’t be long contested threes...

He wants it all on every play, even holding the ball and taking sacks waiting for sumn deep to open up when the check down is open...

About as many people back then listened to or took Dez seriously on the sidelines as there are guys that take Jason Garrett seriously today.

He was a net zero impact guy on the locker room. "Fight and fire" don't matter if everyone just thinks you're a loud mouth idiot.

Thats not what the young players were saying about Dez
They were all throwing up the X when he left
Who's listening to Jason "Drop" Witten and Sean Lee?

Do you think this group played with any higher level of intensity when Dez was here?

It was still a lazy, soft group. He left and NOTHING changed.

What they said be damned, it was clear in their actions and the fact nobody ever rallied around him that nobody was listening.

Just noticed "listened to or took Dez seriously on the sidelines"
There's more to playing professional football than what we see on game day
Dez was like a big brother to those players
He let them know the ins and outs of the city
He made sure they were prepared for game day
Dez did for these young players what Romo did for him

And the net benefit of that was... what?

He left and nothing changed. Team looks, feels and operates exactly the same.

Dak played with way more fire and intensity when Dez was here
The defense definitely played with more fire and intensity
Cole Beasley LOVED Dez when they were teammates

Do we not remember how hard and how well this whole thing played last year?

Dak's had his best two years passing/production wise since Dez left. The defense had their best season in probably two decades last year.

While Dez spent the entire season yapping from his couch?

Dez aint ****, dude. Only thing he's ever been right about is the coaching issues. But those are glaringly obvious to anyone apparently outside the owner box.

That's the point
Cowboys fans let Jason Garrett and Stephen Jones convince them Dez was a cancer
What sense does it make to let the head coach that everyone wants fired, convince you to get rid of the guy that's been your best player over the last 3-4 years?

I don't think Dez was cancer. But I do think his impact was and has continued to be significantly overvalued.

Hard to be a cancer when outside looking in nobody appears to be listening or taking you seriously.

In all honesty. I’m fine with almost all of our offense except play calling and Jason Witten

Dak at QB
Zeke & Pollard at RB. Need Pollard to get in more, and field punts and kick offs.
Coop-Gallup-Cobb as the 1-2-3
Jarwin at TE
Tyron-Connor-TFred-Zack-La’el

Need to get a TE that’s main specialty is blocking, but that’s about it.

Where the issue is, defense, I see like 6-7 holes just with starters. And a new punter, Chris Jones is garbage.
