FWIW, the 2013 height seems to be the correct height, we just like the higher cut

Nope. The 2013s are cut low. You have to look at the heel panels and not the top of the collar.
Also, he's lining up the bottoms of the shoes. He doesn't realize that his 85's are worn down to nothing. He needs to line up the midsole stitching.
